    Just a heads up:

HZ buses are now 10.50 pesos per trip and downtown(urban) are now 8 pesos per trip.

Thats quite a jump up, looking at %.

Ps. Increase of tickets, yet bus drivers continue to drive like rejects and buses in worse condition that in Lebanon after the war with Israel.... Big fat fish got hungrier, I assume..?

Its more the fact that the increase was A: Not authorized by anyone in the Govt and B: No "warnings"/heads up about it at all.

    Welcome to Mexico, haha.

Ps. Ricalde(Municipal President) says hes is working at scrapping the increase due to them NOT being authorized. He also claimed that he intends to "investigate how to offer free transportation" until the matter has been solved.

Don't know what your complaining about ,buses here run +$3 one way ( about 300 pesos)
Maybe they need the rate to pay for new buses and driver training ?

Donald: I doubt buses in Canada costs approx $30 one way(unless long distance trips) You meant 30 pesos?

The point of this however, was that the increase was illegal.

Also, you cant compare with the salaries you guys have in Canada with the average salary of a hotel worker in Cancun. It doesnt help many Mexicans to think "Oh, at least we dont pay $3 per ride like in Canada." ;)

Im sure Canadians would complain if the fare, without any sort of notice, changed from $3 to $3.75. I know my fellow Swedes would get really p*ssed off, understandably.

Take my friend for example: She travels from Lopez Portillo to her job at RIU Caribe. The 2 peso increase per trip turns into 4 pesos per day. In one month, that exceeds what her family spends on gas(cooking, dryer and hot water). For the majority of the low income staff, this increase can really mess things up.

yes but the new buses cost the same and the fuel cost the same.

not saying it isnt right just saying if you want new buses and better drivers its going to cost more.

Last time i was in Cancun I saw more Cadillac Escalades and Hummers then in my major Canadian city .
Hopefully they will share the wealth.

They don't and won't share the wealth.

The point is the raise is illegal and it makes a huge difference to people's lives and they can't pay the extra.

Rawkus was stating that even though prices were raised the buses and drivers won't get better.

He was not saying he expected new buses and driver training.

Hope this makes it clear for you Donald

    Agreed.

This increase has no motive yet. It literally happened over night. They tried to sneak one past the Municipal, but it didnt work(if we are to believe Juan Ricalde that is...)

If the buses were new/improved and drivers actually educated, then that would be one thing. (Drivers here are maniacs, no joke.)

The big fancy cars here are in abundance for sure, just as giant houses. Some are legit owners and some are all but clean owners. Sad but true.
