I was curious? How much money does everybody bring on the cruise is there really enough time to explore the island or it mostly beach activities and getting back on the boat...............
You have between an hour to 2 to explore the island... enough time to do some shopping or rent a gocart to drive around and see what the island has to offer... but not enough time to do both or stop at places truely explore the island. You get to see if you want to come back on your own. As for how much money, well first of all there is the tip for the crew (not required but you'll know that you have to after the fun they give you) and then money for either drinking, cart rental or shopping for those couple of hours. That varies on what you do. Jamie
Bring a twenty to tip the crew ($20 per couple is a good tip). Bring another $10 or $20 to buy a drink or two on the island. If you plan to shop on the island instead, bring some money for that. We don't stop on the Island that long...I want to say 90 minutes??...so if you want to really explore Isla Mujeres, take a ferry over on a different day and rent a golf cart to zip around the whole island. I hear that's a blast. Where we stop there are just the typical souvenir stands and a couple of jewellery stores.
thanks that helps. We planned a trip to the island on our own so maybe we will do a little shopping not go to wild so we save some stuff to do when we come back...Stupid question but do you carry your wallet when on the boat just seems like a pain to have to carry and do you have to carry your passport around when your in mexico like a drivers license or ID in the US
Do yourself a favor, when you get off the boat on Isla, go to the OXXO convenience store right across the street. Buy a couple of six packs of bottled water and pass them out to your friends. You'll be glad you did.
I carry a beach bag onto the boat to keep water, sunscreen, Gravol, etc. and I keep my money inside my sunglass case. No need to carry any kind of ID around. EXCEPT maybe you need ID to rent a golf cart on the island...someone else needs to post to confirm this as I have never done it. DO NOT carry your passport around because you'll be screwed if you lose it. In fact, make a photocopy of the picture page of your passport and the facing page and put it somewhere different than your passport. Apparently that will help you get a replacement passport much easier if you lose yours. Newbies to Mexico: DO NOT LOSE the little green customs card you get at the airport on the way into Mexico. Tuck it in your passport and put in the safe for the duration of your trip. Big problems at the airport on the way home if you turn up without it.
You may want to bring a little extra if you want to buy a Boobs Cruise tee or two. The gals always need one of the wraps also.
Right, thanks Bart & Annette! Your wife will want a Boobs Cruise bandeau top...they are $5.00...handmade by Steve's wife Jannet and the best souvenir of your trip.
