From 2/22 through 3/4, we never saw PatyO's close early, or at least not while we were still conscious... (We honestly couldn't tell you when the music stopped.) Yes, you can ask for hotdogs in the wee hours, and if the grill outside isn't open, wander inside to the buffet. I came home with after midnight jalapeno burger cravings. We were often confused as to where events where, since several got moved inside due to weather. They did seem to pack up the DJ and outdoor bar around the pool early (2am-ish). We also noticed the regular advertising for off-site clubs, but we would much rather drink and dance away carefree on-site and be able to crash quickly, than deal with getting back to the resort while loaded. As with the original poster, I heard similar negative comments from several long time repeaters regarding food or reduced events while we were there. Some said the place changed for the worse after the hurricane a few years back. As first timers, we had an awesome time... The events/shows were not amazing, the rooms were not incredible, the food was better than we treat ourselves to at home, the service was excellent, and the majority of guests were great. The environment is really composed of site, service and guests. We look forward to returning.
After reading all of this, I think there must have been some kind of either: A) early closedown time frame for Patyo's; or B) short staff problem causing someone to try to work a 27-hour day. Seems like most folks still hav the typical TTR experience, so I don't think much is "changing." I've noticed that what the hotel does seems to sort of ebb and flow, which is only natural, nothing ever stays exactly the same...
Or they, TTR, intended to change it to 2AM but enuf people complained, and they changed it back. It pays to complain and bitch, sometimes they listen.
If you are buying a car and the ad sayes it does 100 mph and 40 to the gallon, has four wheels and seats four ,, you then find it struggles to hit 80,, does 20 to the gallon,, and 2 of he seats arnt fitted , one wheel is missing., what do you do ?? accept it ,, dont think so. Because if you just rolled over and said nothing, everyone would try it on. You only got to look at the ads in our travel broucher to see the difference in what your sold and what you get,, note you have already paid in full before you get there,, like buying that car on a discription in the ad's. and finding it as above. Not people just complaing at a first time there,, we have been four times,, and if it wasnt for people like us and others who have posted and fired off letters to the holiday companies we book with,, the standards would be allowed to drop even to the point where the rose tinted spec's dont cover up the flaws. We arnt winging brits ,, but there again ,, we dont just get palmed off with second best as am sure the majority of you wouldnt accept.
Thomas Cook is now the only major tour company over here that still does TTR. Thompson have taken it off their books. Sincerely hope Thomas Cook don't drop it, otherwise that means we have to arrange flights and hotel separately in future, which for majority of time is more expensive.
Hi, I noticed a few things in this thread. We are first timers and this sort of stuff is making us rethink our choice. :/ First, this is supposed to be a 4-star resort, someone mentioned it was a 3-star, can anyone validate this? Also, 24 Hrs. Pool Action Right when everybody is ready to go to bed, you can continue with the party in our Temptastic Pool that offers more Temptations to dive into the whole night long. It’s true, at our adults only resort, you will always find an open pool so that you can enjoy Temptation to the fullest, 24/7. The wee hours had never been this fun with the non-stopping party atmosphere of Temptation! That is directly from the website ^^. I mean, we are coming to Cancun, I expect to be able to get shit faced until 6 in the morning and jump into the fucking pool. WTF!?!?!
Ok, no need to get too worried, let me try to straighten some things out. Temptation is very nice but probably would be considered a high 3 star, low 4 star type property. The resort is actually the oldest in Cancun, so some of the more modern fancy ammenities aren't there. BUT the place is very well maintained and they have remodeled several times through the years. For example the rooms aren't especially fancy, but the atmosphere really dictates you won't be spending time inside them but rather out socializing anyways, which is the resorts high point. The meals etc., are in my opinion very good, with a good selection. Drinks are free flowing and other than what seems to be an abberation in January yes they will give you booze until you can't take anymore! There are 3 pools at the resort: -The Quiet Pool: relaxing, good place to soak in the sun -The Sexy Pool: Where almost everyone is during the day, it's loud raucous and in general a large party -The Sports Pool: This is the one open 24 hours. It is used for water volleyball etc during the day and open at night if you want to hop in. Granted this pool isn't heated but if people are partying like crazy more than a few will jump in there in the wee hours of the morning. So yes you can get plastered and jump in at 6am. Rest easy! Take negative comments with a grain of salt, people are always more vocal about complaining than saying positive things!
Take into consideration a lot of the people posting have been there 6 or more times and will probably return. As for the star rating some rooms are 2 star, some are 4 star. The grounds are 3.5 star, the staff is 5 star, the drinks are 3 star, the food is 3 to 4 star, (depending are your taste), the new friends you will make ,,, priceless.
