I saw this article and remembered our trip to Vegas last summer, when we stayed at THEHotel at Mandalay Bay. Adult and topless pools make a splash in Vegas - USATODAY.com I went to the Moorea Beach Club there, which is their topless adult pool - and it was nothing like Temptation. To sit anywhere cool and comfortable, you had to pay more. To even get in as a guy, it cost $50 (chicks are free, oddly - lol), the drinks are ridiculously expensive, there is no swim up bar, the pool is really small compared to all the other pools there, and there wasn't any friendliness from the other guests toward me at all - I sat by myself and sunbathed while Michael was playing poker. The only "highlight" - if you can call it that - was that I met Ron Jeremy. He actually was the only one who talked to me, and he told me I was hot - lol! He is a little troll looking man, but yeah. There was an adult film convention that weekend, so I'm guessing that is why he was there. While Vegas can be pretty cheap in the mid-summer during the week (we paid only $90 per night for a kick ass suite), EVERYTHING cool costs extra - and it really adds up. It is clear from the article and the high attendance lately at Temptation, that people are demanding the type of entertainment we enjoy at TTR, but Vegas just doesn't understand that we would pick Cancun over Vegas no matter what - that a trip to Temptation with airfare is FAR less than spending the same amount of time in Vegas. Yes, we can get better food and accommodations, but the cost is bordering on obscene now. I remember being able to go to Vegas for way cheap in the 80s (living in SoCal), steak dinners were $5 and lots of free drinks. So, I hope Temptation or Original Resorts will stop opening more Desire resorts and maybe consider additional locations for the Temptation concept - the demand is there!! And I hope they keep the bar open past 2am, like in Vegas!
If only we could find 10 (or better 20) investors with a million dollars to put in, think of the kind of resort we could create!
You're not wrong there Steve. If I win Euro millions I promise I'll do something about it. A kick ass resort with comfortable beds, 24 hour bar and a giant outside hot tub! I think the penthouse suite would have to be named 'the Cancuncare suite' though!
oh I agree... The wife & I got married in vegas... Our trip including airfare was like $1800 for a decent hotel room for 9 nights... We spent almost $3000 on food and alcohol... Insane...
The husband and I just talked about this over dinner last night. He had plans to open this entertainment complex "when he wins the lottery" lol. He decided that instead we will open another resort with a Temptations atmosphere instead...using CancunCare as our guide.
Bare pool at the Mirage is the closest place weve found to TTR in the states. Helluva time but two couples drinking $700 worth of alcohol from 11-5 was insane. Beat the hell out of the gambling though!
To the OP, I completely concur with your assessment of TTR and Vegas. I was just thinking the same thing recently. I'm done with Vegas, until something changes. From my last trip there... me and the Hedgehog
JenNRich we second your thoughts and we also agree with Sultry Fox's general point. Love Bare pool at the Mirage. Has its advantages and disadvantages when compared to TTR. We look at the ridiculous price for guys to get in as an advantage. I dont mind paying $50 to get in and $18 per red bull/vodka if it means less bachelor parties and more ladies And the old saying definitely applies, you get what you pay for. With Bare you get a nice cushioned lounge chair with 5 people waiting on you at once, never an empty drink and usually (Fri-Sun) a great DJ. Now of course for two that will likely cost you $200-$400 depending on your drinking habits. The biggest disadvantage is it is one of those it is how you look places. Meaning too many high heels, too much make up, too many stuck up attitudes...things you just dont find at TTR. Love them both in their own special ways. Ironically I am doing Vegas and Bare the week before doing TTR this year. Cant wait for April!
