Wow... you all aren't looking for much are you?

You forgot strawberries served on the beach...

I mean some were thrown in as a joke but really? I know this is a wish list and all but I think this type of thing starts feeding on itself and goes from a wish list to a demand list.

Public sex? I thought that's what you had Desire for?

Party on the Beach? They did that, no one came.

If you have been coming for a while you understand that things go through phases here but the party continues.

On the comment about tipping.. yeah it’s all inclusive… yeah tips are included… Best paid service staff is running about $7 a day. Tips they get from an individual through the all-inclusive price, after everyone else has their cut, about 5 cents per person, per stay. So yeah, like your favorite bartender at home, no tips, no rent money. Do you think your bartender at home would put up with “Hey Paco, gimmie a beer right now!” Add in a few finger snaps… Just stand there a few minutes after 10 PM and see how the Guest treat the bartenders. Yeah a vast majority treat them nice but just take one a-hole to ruin my day..

Buffet… what can I say.. have seen comments over the year that say the 30 feet of food on one side and 15 feet with grill on the other side had absolutely nothing eatable on it, to what a fantastic spread.

Pady’O rooms… yeah, I’d never want to stay in one, but others love them.

Front desk staff… Having worked the front desk at a major hotel before in my live it’s a shitty job most of the time. But I will agree that they are not my favorite folks all the time. But I have also stood there and watched a “guest” bring one of the ladies to the verge of tears. And the lady behind the desk was doing everything she could to take care of the lady that treated her like shit from the moment she walked up. It was so bad that at the end when the “guest” walked away I felt compelled to walk up and say “On the behalf of the rest of the people in the United States I apologize for that “woman””. So yeah, they get hardened to the public.

Large groups of single guys on the hunt for an easy score… this really is a tough one for the hotel. 15 rooms listed under 15 different names, how do you tell they are connected? OK, they are all male names and all checking in on the same day from the same provider.. but then, if you push a lot of business through the hotel, you can do that and they not be connected too. So the hotel could try educating the provider but then it’s really not them but the local travel agent trying to make a buck and has the “perfect” solution for these horney guys… hard to stop.

But I do agree that repeat problems should be dealt with more drastically, like eviction from the hotel.

Don’t get me wrong here, is TTR perfect? Absolutely not! But there is no place like it in the world and we keep coming back every year. Someday the minuses will outweigh the pluses for all of us and we’ll find a new spot. But for me, we’re not close yet.. but we are aware. :)

So keep posting but try and keep it real, you know, like Michelle! :)

Just my 2 cents, probably worth about that much...

Stepping down of the soap box now….

    Jamie

The staff treating everyone poorly because they are "hardened to the public" to me is not an acceptable reason. If they are hardened to the public and treat all guests poorly, even when those guests are polite and courteous (I would never order a drink as implied), then they need to find work in a non-service environment because they are obviously burned out. You don't treat everyone bad because of a few bad apples. I've been in the service industry as well, and I know that if this happens you are going downhill in your career fast and possibly taking the business establishment with you.

I hear you... and north of the border I'm with you 100%. But then north of the border we who have worked in the public space wouldn't put up with half of the shit they have to.

And even through the Paco orderings you will always see a smile on the bartenders faces. You will notice that I said a vast majority of folks, which obviously includes you, are polite. :)

We are up early, play volleyball on the beach all day while drinking, and we don't take a nap, so 2 a.m. is late enough for us most nights. I do understand, however, that other people are from different time zones and like to keep a different type of schedule while on vacation, so I do think the bar should be open later. What about a "late night menu"? Patty'O's could put some lower volume music on auto-play, shut down the blenders for the night at 2 a.m., and keep one bartender there offering beer and simple mixed drinks. If it is still very crowded, then a second bartender stays until it is slow enough for one to handle. Eliminating the blender drinks (after a certain hour) would allow them to serve much faster. Also, for all the people that like to leave their empty (or sometimes full) glasses in every corner of the resort, remember that those need to be hunted down by a staff member that they could be using behind the bar. I treat the bartenders with respect, and when I walk up with my empty glass, they usually have a fresh drink for me before I even have the chance to ask for it. I actually have more trouble when I DON'T want a drink, because I have to stop them before they make it!

First, we were also there Feb 18th-25th and I can't remember on single night where the Paty-O bar closed at 2am. They stayed open till 6AM every time I was up that late (or early). In fact, Johnny and Javier both kept serving us drinks until 7AM while they cleaned up, until the bar in the buffet opened for business. Now that's service!

I agree with all the comments on the pool chairs. It's a joke. One night I put nice t-shirts on chairs at 3am and they were gone the next morning (but not everyone's just random chairs) and all the other days, nothing was removed, not even people who put stuff out at 10PM. It would be nice if the policy, whatever it may be, was consistently enforced (or not). After losing two nice shirts I wasn't taking the risk of putting more stuff out.

The restaurant reservations process completely sucks as well, it's a monumental waste of prime pool time and very inefficient. Perhaps if the meals didn't take FOREVER to complete, they could cycle more people through and it'd be easier to get into a restaurant. Sometimes it seemed like it took 30 minutes between courses. Way too slow.

Agree 100% on the sports pool temp and hot tub comments. As for the pool games, holy cow, I found them to be soooo annoying, and I grew especially tired of hearing Sarah 69's monotone voice when I'd rather be listening to music.
