Forth visit ,, last 2 weeks in Feb. Went the same time last year and thought it must of been a bad couple of weeks , so off we went again this year. What has happened? First off we got dumped in a grotty room overlooking a roof with vents pumping out a smell which was unpleasent and noisey. We had requested a quiet room, this was over paty'os, the room had no wardrobe door was tatty and dingy. Asked to change and told nothing was availble , try tomorrow. We did get moved and spent our two weeks by the vents of the Text mex. Smelt like a burger by the time we left. Can understand the noisey rooms over patio's being allocated t the 2 or three nighters but not people booked in for two weeks. The food in the buffet rest., was not good,, some nights there was no fresh food from the grill being offered, the first time this has happened. As for hot food ... no existant,, all luke warm. Same stuff almost every night. Entertainment , theres certainly been some cut backs, the band only played once a week,, which always used to be twice,, Excellent band though. the dj spun the same music, obviously off a set play list or standard cd each time . Kinky casino night,, how thats been shortned and toned down. Sunbeds,, unbeliveable.. Nine oclock at night as the cleaners were still cleaning the pool area people were reserveing beds,, tieing them together, putting tee shirts over them. The hotel should clear all this stuff early morning ,, makes it worst as some who reserve these beds dont turn up till mid day or the afternoon. Before people start haveing a go about ' dont go then' 'your moaning about nothing' or the place is heaven,, if nothing is said it will just go down hill even further, the prices still rise and people have complained about that. Not us,, we accept its not a five star, can cope with a cockroach or two,, but what cant be argued with is the standard is not what it was a couple of years back. This was an opinion we heard many times this year, from americans, canadians and english. On the plus side the staff are fantastic as ever, they can only work with what they are given , and we think they do a fantastic job. Will we make it five times next feb?? doubt it,, its a long haul for us brits,, thats why we go for two weeks at a time. And there are much better quality hotels availble, sadly though without the atmostphere of Temptations. So before you rip me to peices, take an honest look at your stay and say truthfully its got better in the last couple of years. Because i didnt hear anyone say it had. Will we go
I dont think anyone will rip you to pieces for posting a not so glowing report. As a multi-repeater you're ideally qualified to make those comments based on previous experiences. It's the people that dont research or arrive with unrealistic expectations that tend to receive a tough time here.
I suppose I'll have to investigate this for myself. I hope it was an aberration Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk 2
Hopefully they straighten things out. It is a great resort that is hard to match as far as the vibe and people. We go with the idea that its all about the atmosphere and people more than the food and hotel amenities. Lets facetious we've all stayed in the so called five star resorts and to be honest how much fun was it when you got home and paid the bill. Temptation is all about the people and fun vibe. I do agree though if the hotel needs to correct certain things they should, and I'm sure they will as they seem to monitor this post.
Thankfully a lot of the items are correctable. However, people have been complaining on this site and on the check out forms about the lack of variety in music and the frustration with them using the same mix cd for all days except Saturday. But sadly nothing seems to change. I hope they monitor the site and take feedback on here seriously but I tend to doubt it.
I've gotten the impression the last couple trips the resort doesn't really want you staying and partying at the resort at night... They really want you off to the bars on the strip and not drinking the resorts booze. Also have noticed if your not a " member " a " good " room is hard to come by. The front desk has never been as helpful as most other resorts we have been too. But I have to say the food at the buffet last June was really good. And the service in most case's has been top notch...:xyxthumbs:
front desk I stayed in december for 3 weeks on my regular annual visit, and I found the food as good as usual, I tend to do the a la cartes at night mostly though. I did enjoy the carribean buffet outside and the hog roast outside buffet. and the breakfast and lunch were great in the buffet..perhaps slightly less selection at lunch, but nothing that really bothered me. The front desk however definetly seemed not as efficient and curteous this time, with many new young staff in attendance, from my own impression and feedback from others they didnt seem to have the same standard of helpfulness as in the past. I in my 20 visits have always asked for the quiet pool area and been happily given it, this time even though I had requested it in advance, was told it was not possible unless I paid an upgrade. so I was put near the cigar room.
It is a shame your vacation was not as great as in years past! Did you try to ask for a 3rd room? We asked to see different rooms when we checked in but probably due to not paying much for our vacation - we got the room we paid for. The good thing about food though is that if you do not like it in one location, you can go eat at a different restaurant. I can understand traveling from UK however and having certain expectations. We hope our second trip will be as fabulous as the first.... if the food is not as stellar at least I'll know a burger will be waiting for me at night
Only visited twice up to now, so certainly not an expert on quality of the place or standards dropping, but just a few pointers in my opinion: I love Cancun, and don't want to go anywhere else. I love the atmosphere, the beaches, weather and locals aren't too pushy. Isla Mujeres is a short boat ride away and is a wonderful quiet retreat for a day away from the madness of TTR. To fly from Manchester and make use of a package deal, TTR is the cheapest child-free option. The only places that come up cheaper are Sea Adventure Resort (full of kids and miles away) and somewhere called Barcelo Tucancun Beach. My reasoning still stands that TTR is the only adult-only resort that for the price ticks all boxes. It's not perfect, areas are noisy, some rooms are worse than others etc but for what you pay it's still a pretty good deal. I found the food still to be top notch for me. Discovered that Margaritas do an extended menu in the evening last trip that you don't need reservations for - they served food quickly but a better quality than the buffet. One thing that does annoy me is the time it takes to eat at the restaurants - sometimes you'll be waiting half an hour between courses!
He is partially right, its not a 5 star, not even close. I have stayed at places half the cost and 10 times the quality. But that aside its not why we went there. Could you imagine what the prices would be like if it made it to a 4 star rating? With popularity and 4 star we would be paying upwards of 2500 each. Besides once your drunk you dont notice the small stuff hehe. See you Feb 2014 WEEK 8!
