I think if you come from a climate that's not humid then you notice it more. That being said, noticed it more in the room we had next to Paty O, over the room we had in the 5000 block next trip. It could be because I was expecting the smell this time!

Putting air con on did help. Thing is, air con dries out my throat and I found myself waking up gasping for breath if we left the air con on. It worked better leaving air con on whilst we weren't in the room then switching it off to sleep.

First time there in October and i had read the board beforehand and knew to pack accordingly. I always have a small bottle of aromatherapy oil in my bag (kind you burn in a diffuser) and add three drops to a light bulb first day only ... that's it. The room always smelled lighty of the oil and covered any unpleasant smell including the cleaning products they used. It contains no alcohol so there is no risk of burning down the joint.

I always use a musk sense as it adds to the sexy atmosphere. :)

That smell is very common to all areas of beachfront accommodations near salt water all across the world, to our experience. Cancun, Playa del Carmen, St. Thomas, St. Martin, Key West, Hawaii, Cabo, they all have that musty/moldy smell. It's natural, and well nigh impossible to get rid of unless harsh chemicals are used, which in turn leave their own smell.

We travel a lot and that smell seems to linger in the room in the hotter climates.

Bring a box of scented dryer sheets - poke them onto your clothes hangers and keep them in your drawers and suitcases- it does help keep your clothes smelling fresh.

    Fresh n' sexy...

A small bottle of Johnson's baby powder is a good thing to bring too for those hot humid sticky days.
