Go over to the little store at the end of the parking lot You can purchase calling cards there We do that A little bit of a hassle but it works.
We don't mind buying the cards at the Oxxo or the little mart but do they work on the payphones in the resort? Our experience has been at other resorts that sometimes you have to use the payphones outside on the street that sometimes don't work or the traffic is so loud you can't hear anything from the person you are trying to talk to,
hi we bought calling cards in dominican 3 years ago ,,,,we used our calling cards on our room phone,,,,when we checked out ,,,,we had to pay $200 for the use of the phone in our room
We purchased a couple of days ago a calling card at the little convenience store just in front of TTR (the one on the same side of the road) for about 120 pesos and it was good for 80 minutes.
WOW!! This is too bad and we hope Visa will work something out for you. Our kidlets are grown and ... most days ... are self-sufficient ... LOL!! But, in case of emergency we would opt to just use our cells to avoid this issue. Good luck guys!!
Ouch! I went into Cancun, around Telum Ave somewhere and used an internet cafe. It cost me like $5 US and I talked for about 30mins via Skype to my girlfriend back home. I am glad I didn't use the payphone, because I did consider it. Good to know... and sorry about your misfortune. I got dinged with the ATM fees, not as much, but still close to 20 each time (x2). Luckily I found a ScotiaBank on the Americana plaza for next time
Yes, you can absolutely use the calling cards you buy from the OXXO Store at the payphones inside Temptation. I think a card was 100 pesos for a 20 minute card call time (minimum 5 minutes per call deducted from card) if I remember right.
I feel your pain, I have AT&T and even with the international package it costs a fortune. I've found the best way is purchase the wifi and communicate through email if you need to.
