She's never been back, we made an agreement never to come back together. She's made other plans, backpacked Europe among other things, I've just stuck to TTR...so, maybe one day she'll come back...but not with me.
got u all beat besides mike..previp..on here...1st time at bbg was april 1996! traveled all over the world w/a good friend for 10 years...went back to bbg in 2006...and started going for my b-day every year since 2009 and it just wasn't enough mental realignment for me...so i need at least an every 6 mon adjustment in my mental attitude :xyxthumbs: i am sure u know what i mean....OMG....april....r we there yet....:icon_confused:
Joined CC in May 2005 (under an old user name) and had my first TTR trip in Sept 2005...Ive been back every year since then....8th trip coming up in May!
My first trip to Cancun was in 97 with my best friend but we didn't stay at the hotel. Loved Cancun so much we went back the next year so 2nd trip was 98, again didnt stay at Temptation but did meet a 21 yr old Mexican girl one night in Dady Rock nightclub called Jannet, who later visited the UK in October 98 - which ended my previous relationship... oops! July 99 third trip to Cancun for two weeks solo to meet up with Jannet. Jannet moved to the UK in Sept later that year. Feb 2000 we got married and after one more trip back to Cancun staying somewhere else Jannet suggested we try Blue Bay Getaway in 2001. 2002 was our second trip back to BBG and we met some folks we wanted to stay in touch with and in August I started cancuncare.com, adding a very simple forum two months later in October. In Feb 2003 the volunteer who was the techy person behind the site fell out with me and deleted the whole forum while I slept. I then spent about 48 hrs straight teaching myself new stuff and got a new forum back online - hence my join date of Feb 14 2003. From 2002 - 2004 we visited maybe 5 times for two or three weeks at a time. Each time it got harder to go home. In summer 2004 we took a chance, we quit our jobs, we sold the house and we moved to Cancun with Jannet 5 months pregnant. Been here ever since - 9 years this September. Two young kids mean we haven't been able to stay at the hotel as often as we used to when living in the UK which is ironic since we now live only a few minutes away.
Which site was that? I remember Cancun dot com used to have a forum, but don't recall anything specifically for BBG?
The forum has been going since Feb 2002 (two years older than Facebook!) but we changed software platform in about 2009 and in order to reduce the size of the database and make the transition easier I deleted all posts that were more than 3 years old. We lost about 400,000 posts so we would be closing in on a million had I kept them.
Our first Blue Bay Getaway trips were before Wilma, and it hit in October of 2005. The first trip after Wilma was pretty sobering.
I think it's awesome to see how this empire started and how far it has came. I was just wondering if Steve would have ever imagined CCC would have been this successful. The resort owners have really prospered from this venture I hope they realize this ! This web sight is a huge marketing tool for TTR, just hope you are well compensated for your efforts !!
The forum wasn't BBG specific, just sometimes the guests took over the forum. I believe it was something like Riveria Maya - vacationing here, that is where we first heard about Blue Bay. I think there were people like Jorge & Shannon, one set I remember, that were members here before the website went dark. Also CancunSpice had a lot of BBG people over there back then. Gawd I must be old! :beer4:
