I see a lot of people say to go to Walmart for certain items. How exactly do you get there by bus? Does it leave right outside the resort? Does the bus say "Walmart" on it? :icon_lol: How much is it? I like to be prepared!
Funny enough, yes, it does say Walmart on it. go out the front doors and don't cross the road. walk to the right until you get to a bus stop. Wait for a bus that says Walmart on it. Tell the driver that you want to go to Walmart but don't know where the stop is. Ask him to say something when you should get off. He will understand the term Walmart but not necessarily much else. When you get off, cross the street to the south, walk a block and you're there. Some Cancun busses go 0-60mph in about 5 seconds. Sit down and hold on. Coming back, it's easy enough to just grab a cab rather than hauling your crap on the bus.
The bus stop is in front of the hotel to the right and the cost was $1.50 round trip, a great bargain. They drop you off across the street from walmart and you get the bus back on the side of the store..The front desk can tell you the bus number just not sure if it was a number or letter bus.
Would anyone like to share a cab from the hotel to Walmart and back Saturday morning??? Last year it was about $35. We want to make an alcohol run and get back to the pool early.
the bus ride is much cheaper you go out the front door to the right and the bus stop is there, it is about 80 pesos each way to Market 28 and the bus is R2 either way the bus will be marked where it will go. The taxi drivers will try to get you to go with them and $35.00 sounds about right for a round trip considering that from Market 28 they wanted to charge us $15.00 US each way and Walmart is a bit further then that. Speaking of Walmart they have timeshare people there as well, but they will tell you that they are not trying to sell you timeshare but rather an idea that they are there. They are trying to sell timeshares in a new part of Cancun on the other side and if you go to the presentation you get huge discounts to excursions.
About how much should a taxi back from Walmart be? It might be easier taking a taxi back with your stuff.
Walmart and back by bus is a fun and easy trip... Last June it was a dollar per person and less if you paid with Mexican money...which we paid with after getting our change in that currency at walmart. It was interesting to see the difference's in their walmart compared to ours...they also don't have a huge variety of booze but enough you should find something you want. You also get to feel the experience of being an outsider and a minority. We plan on taking the bus to walmart again this year just because it was a fun and interesting experience...and 4 dollars for a fun mini-excursion is a deal. :mnm:
