Have any of you guys been? We fancy doing a night out this trip, and it will only be 4 months since last time, so we're guessing CocoBongo - brilliant tho' it was, might be too "samey", so are thinking about a night out at the Casino, but haven't spoken to anyone who's been before. Any opinions? :daisy:
I believe it is still closed down unless it reopened recently. They had a fire which followed several other suspicious fires at other casinos in mexico. Do a search on the internet if you want to read about the theories as to why. I dont want to speculate. I went in 2011. They had texas hold'em, craps, blackjack, roulette and slots. Was kind of small, a little shady. Was randomly open. More locals than tourists. If it was reopened then I wouldnt be going back and I LOVE texas hold'em.
Of all people I would think you two would have checked this place out. It is over by where the 5000 rooms are, definatly off the beaten path. It looks like it was a nice hangout but it is starting to look rundown a bit.
We asked the same question when we were there about the casino, it is open from 5pm to 5 am and there is a $20.00 charge to get in but apparently you can go back in as many times as you like something like a membership fee.
Don and I went for a walk one day and we found it over near the 500 block easy to miss you have walk up a set of steps to it... nice area just out of the way. Has a nice fountain thingy in the middle of it and nice bar area but it you can see it has not been used for a long time.
It is currently open. I met someone yesterday on the cruise and noticed their membership wristband, we chatted about it for a few minutes. No they didnt have a fire, they were closed down as they did not meet fire regulations. Quite a big difference There was only one casino fire in Mexico that I know of. It was arson started by drug gangs and happened at a casino in Monterrey (1500 miles away by road) resulting in many deaths. Following this, similar places were thoroughly checked out to ensure it couldnt happen anywhere else.
