Hi everyone,I am a Canadian retired in Thailand for 4 years now.I love it here but want a new adventure.I am thinking the Cancun area.I have been to Cancun a few times but only as a holiday maker staying at the resorts.My questions are these.........will 4-$500 bucks get me a decent studio or 1 bedroom apt?......Are the local ladies available for friendship?How much is a 24/pk of Coronas?How much would a scooter/moped cost?Thanks in advance for all your help
You should be fine getting a one bed place for $400-500 USD. A 24 pack of coronas is approx 250 pesos or $20 USD. Not sure on scooters/mopeds have seen them in Walmart etc (I'm thinking around the 20,000 pesos mark) but never really checked the price. Local ladies? I've never been to Thailand but from what I've read I'd expect it to be quite different here.
I've lived in Thailand as well. Cost of living, on the low end, is similar I'd say. Finding low budget hangouts with lots of expats is harder here than in Thailand, with most of the low budget places populated by working class Mexicans who don't speak English. Cancun has a climate similar to that of Phuket Island, so not as hot as Bangkok, say. You will appreciate the sea and the sand, the breezes and the palm trees. We have hurricanes once a decade, or so, that are worth talking about. Hookers are the same around the world. Having a real relationship takes about as much investment in Thailand as it would here. There is an enormous cultural difference between here and Thailand, which you may or may not appreciate. It's a lot closer to the U.S. and Canada, if you have need to travel to either place on occasion. _________________

We have these buy here/pay here stores called Electra they sell an Asian moped kind of a product for about $1000 US on the low end. I believe the brand is called you Italika.
Isn't Italika a Mexican brand? I thought they manufacture motorcycles in Toluca. I could be wrong... BTW: Not a bad machine for 1000.00 US.
