We have a few gallons of alcohol infused cherries that are going to ready in July when we go. We want to bring a gallon of them to Temptations. They are perfect party starters add some fun to your drinks. What is the best way to get them there? Will customs give us a hard time if we just pack them in ziplocks? We just want to share the fun!

We just got back yesterday. We took the Alcohol whipped creme and DID NOT declare it. I didn't consider it food so I took a chance. But, cherries are food and a fruit, both of which you have to declare. Just not sure.

As far as putting them in zip lock bags, I'd be afraid they would burst pretty easily. Good luck and let us know if you get them in.

General rule of thumb with bringing any food items into Mexico are
    - Dried, cooked, canned, and bottled foods are mostly OK but must unopened and be in their original(factory) labeled package (not homemade).

All homemade products, like your cherries, are considered Prohibited products and will be confiscated if discovered.

    Yup. Unfortunate, but true.

If you are going to attempt it, i recommend a foodsaver and vacuum seal them.

I can put them in the original glass gallon jugs and make them look like they are factory sealed but I guess it would still be a risk! What a mess that would be if they broke , holy cow!

we took a ziplock full of alcohol infused gummy bears in our carry on and had no problems last July. Looked like just regular gummy bears so that may be the reason.

How long did you leave the cherry soaking or and was it vodka?
