Dave, I love the old rock. We don't have rock and roll anymore lol also you are as old as you will be ever right at this moment and there are some that are older and some that are younger! You're as old as you feel. Enjoy ever moment as your last because ya never know. My boys tell me I'm old as dirt lol I remover when my oldest turned double digits (10) and I told my Gramma I couldn't believe it and she said, give me a break, my oldest I'd 60 lol and that has always put my age thing in perspective lol
what...No Digable Planets, Frankie Bones, Kyuss?? sorry had to throw out some other off the wall stuff! You have to love diversity in any form, but especially in music. I have always had a theory with music. It states that "the type of music is the emotion you are currently feeling and the volume is the intensity". Pay attention some time when you feel a certain mood to the type of music you find appealing. then pay attention to how loud or soft you make it. It seems crazy but I find it(music) very often plays a huge part in our lives without us knowing!
When to an Atlanta oldies niteclub during "70s" nite. My wife wanted to hear Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" !!! The Dj told her "Mam, that song was released in 1967". She's still pissed at the guy !!!
Funny our kids had grown up listening to Led Zepplin, Santana ( Black Magic Woman), The Who, Stones, The Doors, ZZTop (Sharp Dressed Man) , Bob Seager, Dobbie Brothers, Yes , The Police (Sting),AC/DC, Joe Cocker (You can leave your hat on), The Hollies (Long Cool Woman in a Red Dress) the old Motown groups/ The Funk Brothers and so many more of the the old rock / rhythm and blues bands that now when they listen to music they feel a bit cheated and they are in their twenties heck even our 12 year old thinks the older music is really cool. Although there is some good music out there now from Nickel back, My Darkest Days, Pink, Saving Able, Theory of a Dead Man, Creed, Daughtry, to name a few.
I am a DJ and love all types of music from 50's rock and roll through to dub step, grime, Rnb and dance but my main love is House music and its what i love to listen to and play but i am not the house police and only like that and want everone else to listen to it. A mixture is great and just wish they would play a mixture at TTR not the same songs everyday day after day. So dance music David Guetta, Chase and Status, Example, Calvin Harris, DJ fresh, Labrinth to name a few mostly Uk/ european talent Guetta
So far so good... Venturing into "back in my day", "get off my lawn" territory, but we'll allow it... ...And we're gonna have to cut you off right here. Nickelback and Creed??? During our 1 nite stand, they did play lots of 50s,60s and 70s music at PAtty Os. Unfortunately it was totally mutilated by the sound effects. My wife asked me what song they were playing ? "I think its "Jail House Rock" or "Rock around the clock", but i'm not sure"!!!
I wish they would have 80s new wave nights at Paty O's - and have some time at the sexy pool where they would play only 80s music! The DJ cannot take requests, they have set playlists - when you ask them to play a song, they shrug. I have the best 80s rock and new wave on my iphone and iPad and I have a speaker set for travel - will have 80s dance parties the week we are there for sure!! And I second the comment about Nickelback and Creed - really?! LOL!! My kids even prefer 80s music to the current stuff, and they are in college. I raised them right!! My son's favorite music is classic rock and he is 18 - he loves Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Tom Petty etc. way more than anything new. My daughter (20) loves 80s new wave. With the dominate age groups at Temptation being late 30s-mid 50s, I think they please most by having some 80s music time - and not remix blends with new stuff, the real songs (and not for an hour in the morning, but a lot longer - a few times they did play some 80s, but not at the peak times). At Paty O's I would LOVE 80s dance, and have yet to hear any of that kind of music. The live band will play classic rock, but a lot from the 70s - which is ok, but would like 80s DJ - or would love for them to use my 80s dance party playlist on my phone!!
