Was loading my IPad with songs last night to bring on the trip. I'm a 80's and 90's rock/alternative sorta guy but don't like being stuck in the past so have always tried to keep somewhat current in music. So I'm sorting my song collection into what I want to bring, and I realize that I'm short on downloaded current stuff so I figured that I'll download some new songs. Then I realize that I have no idea what to search for. Turns out that most of my exposure to current music is when I'm in Vegas / Cancun. Or the occaisional time that I switch off the rock station in my truck because the kids want to sing and dance in the back seat. Result is that most of the stuff is very familiar but I'm lost as far as Artist name and Song title to put in the old search engine. Kinda sucks. I didn't want to get old. Oh well, It still going to be a good night, tonight's going to be a good night as long as we have Shots, Shots, Sho-Sho-Shots, Shots Everybody!
Go back another 10 to 15 years and that's where we are at! And we understand your problem. But man, there were some great songs back then. And you know they were great when your kids are listening to them.
This line of compilations features a lot of the well-known dance and top 40 songs. Easy reference if you've been out of the loop for a while. NOW That's What I Call Music - The Home Of Hit Music
Somebody posted a link to this playlist on youtube. You should see some familiar tunes there, and I'd imagine if you buy a few of those then Amazon or itunes or whatever can start recommending stuff that's similar: Paty-O Lounge Mix - YouTube There are also threads like this every few months: http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/tem...-cruise-music-get-you-mood-your-vacation.html I was in the same kinda boat with modern dance music when we first went to TTR 2 years ago. When we got back I created an ever-growing playlist, starting with the few danceable songs I already owned and a few more that I remembered from the trip. I've steadily added to it, and the playlist is now something like 10 hours long :icon_surprised: But hey, throw it on shuffle and I'm in great shape when the party needs to rock all night, and it's great for working out too!
Some kind soul from the forum created this playlist on YouTube if you need a Paty'Os fix: Paty-O Lounge Mix - YouTube
I'm a musician and my tastes are very ecclectic. I like really old jazz stuff, old school rock, old and new school punk, heavy stuff, dance, hip hop, rap, techno and dub step... ALL of it! Stuff that's on my ipod in heavy rotation are: Danko Jones, Dub FX, Sublime (with and without Rome), skrillex, Volbeat, Swollen Members, Long Beach Dub Allstars, The Black Pacific,Turbonegro, 69 eyes... Just to name a few.
