Just wondering if anyone has ever used a member's "free referral" week before? Friends we met last year have offered this to us. However we were planning on going for 9 day instead of the week. We know we have to sit in on the "spiel" and have already done that a few years ago so kinda know what to expect that way. Just wondered if anybody has any other experience with this? Is all inclusive included or would we have to pay extra?:flagcanada: This will be our 6th trip but we usually go with a charter. We don't want any surprises
We have also had the same offer. I believe you have to pay the All Inclusive Fees for each day that you are there, so I guess if they give you a week, you would pay for 7 days of AIF and then pay for your room the other 2 nights. And you probably know you will have to pay your airfare. We have not taken that offer because it would be a little more than what we pay now for airfare + hotel for 9 days, we get the room we want and get our drink on just fine with whatever they give us (name brand or not). If someone else knows otherwise about paying the AIF, feel free to correct me. ~Jill~
I just looked into it and to go during the month of May it's $170 per night for 8 nights. I got a quote roughly 6 months ago and it was $125 per night. I'm sure the time of the year has a lot to do with it, but not sure if it matters between 7 or more nights.
There are fluctuations between in season and off season as well as yearly adjustments to the base rate at the hotel (rates you would pay if you booked directly through them) and are discounted 25%. In the interest of full disclosure I am a member and just had a couple friends use 2 of my referral weeks (they are on the board, I'll leave it to them to comment if they like). Doing a quick comparison in price I can see that they probably saved about $1000 for their vacation by going through me. The bonus to me is that not only did I help my friends, I get a kick back from the hotel in terms of a credit to offset part of the cost of my trip. I know that Steve doesn't want people to advertise their referral weeks on the site due to the hotel angling him out a few years ago on a different plan but if you get to know a member and find out that they have weeks you could use I would suggest looking into it. You get to save money on your trip but you do have to take in the sales pitch. 1-2 hours, say no if you prefer and go on and enjoy the rest of your trip.
Haha just for giggles I priced out how much it was the other way Kim, I'd say you guys got a pretty good deal lol!
