Hi guys! Just wondering when bumping is most common? I am so worried that we will get there and get bumped to the GrP. Im sure its a nice hotel but because its our honeymoon we want to take full advantage of the adults only. I would be furious if we were bumped to GrP. If you are bumped are you given anything extra like a partial refund? Does bumping more oftenly happen to people that book through third parties or people that book directly through the hotel? Also, if you do get bumped is your only option GrP or can they bump you to another Adult Only hotel? Any tips on how to avoid being bumped? We are going in April so im hoping this wont be a problem then.
It happens most often when booked thru the discount tour operators...like a cheapy website or similar.....beyond that I dont know....would alo be interested in your questions. I wouldn't mind getting bumped to Desire but would not be a happy camper going somewhere where I have to wear a top or with kids around
We got bumped our 1st night of a 7 night stay over Valentine's week one yr. they sent us to their "sister" resort Blue Bay I think it was. Kids resort with water park. We had 3 couples with us and like 12 couples altogether got bumped that night. We where pissed! But, everyone that got bumped got a free 3 night stay to be used with in 1 yr. and the resort paid the taxi. We got to Temptations at 3PM went to other resort then back to Temt. partied at Patio's till late, cab back to kids resort then back to Temt. for Boobs Cruise next morning. We had food and drinks at both resorts and all taxi's never cost us anything, was a lot of going back and forth and a pain in the butt but we got our 3 free nights the following yr. with no problems.
They tried to change our holiday plans too just book directly through Temptations resort. That's what we did, we wouldn't have known this was happening as we called the hotel to confirm an they had no knowledge of us coming so we called the company we booked through and they said there was no availability at Temptations and offered us this and that to stay at another resort but we said no we want our money back which we got. We then called Temptations and they said they had lots of rooms still available and we booked with them etc got an e mail confirmation etc. middle men trying to steal business, should be illegal. To be honest it doesn't matter who you book with, how soon you book, or how late you book. I feel like it really is random. Tipping helps like with everything. After March 25th-ish, the chance of being bumped seems to decrease more and more. I feel like when we worried about it, that was the time we got bumped.... but the rest of the trips we never even thought of it and were okay. I wouldn't worry! Have faith! Plus it's your honeymoon! Bring a copy of that marriage certificate! It works wonders as well! The one time that we did get bumped, we received no refund.... but we did get a room on the 12th floor with VIP bracelets that got us into our very own breakfast restaurant. It was very nice. Even had a beautiful jacuzzi in the room. (I actually have a video of my friend singing "I'm in a tub" --parody of I'm on a boat-- inside of it lol). They will only transfer you to the great. However, if you book with apple vacations(good but a few hundred more dollars) you can buy the travel insurance. It usually runs about 40-70/p If i remember correctly..... I haven't used them since 2005 so not sure. However if you do get bumped, apple vacations is usually really good about accommodating you. They would probably move you to TTR or another Adults only hotel.... probably ME by Melia(also nice but too big for my comfort).
