First time to Cancun Jan 22-27. We are looking for ideas on other things we should plan to do while there. Not sure if our boob cruise will have enough people booked on the 25th, but if so, we're there. What else should we try to do for a day-trip or a few hours outside TTR? (Or should we just stay at TTR and never leave).
we always head into town for some shopping and take in a little Mexican bar or eatery....we have done a few day trips that are amasing but a long day and lots of driving. They have a zip lining, pyramid tour with rock repelling that was a great experience but left early am and didn't get back till late night...better to get a group and take your own private tour as we felt rushed all day!!! We have done the seadoo rental and they took us to the lagoon....fun but, same ol same ol, if you have ever rented a seadoo before. The local bus is a great way to get around and find some good shopping and you can set your own time schedule....we now have to much fun at the resort to leave very often to be honest. read ,read and read some more on the awesome site and you will get a vibe of what a great group of people have done and what is a "must do" other than that sit back and enjoy the ride....your in for a great holiday
I'd recommend Chichen Itza. It's very large and very worth the trip. There's all sorts of stuff to look at and see there. I wouldn't go with a tour bus. they stop at a bunch of tourist shops and restaurants and waste away your day trying to get you to buy trinkets. Go talk to a cabbie and rent the cab for a day. Have the driver take you to chichen itza and have a nap while you're touring the place. Rent a private guide when you're there to show you around and explain everything to you. You get an excellent tour of the place with a private guide and you will actually have time to see stuff if you don't waste your day being herded in and out of trinket shops. Other than that, I wouldn't fill too many other days with stuff. if you go on the Boobs Cruise, you'll have an hour or so to wander around the island. So that's like another excursion. I'd spend the rest of the time hanging out at TTR.
I second Coco Bongo's, the entertainment staff at Temptations will have a quick show in the morning around the sexy pool and let you know where to buy tickets. I think they are $65 each, includes your ride there and entry and drinks in the VIP area. The VIP is the entire bar, try to get your butts down to the floor level, she can dance on the bar, you can't, but you can look up all the skirts while checking out your wife lol. Shhh did I just say that lol. You'll have to find your own way home, taxi's are just outside and usually charge $20 to $30, but negotiate with them and they'll find you a taxi driving by if you say that WAYYY TOO MUCH, we find $10 all the time, its too far to walk back IMOP, probably a 10 minute drive. Zip line adventure is a waste of money, but the quads where fun on that trip but I wouldn't do it twice, we missed so much at TTR. Its more of a yup we did it, but never again You HAVE to go on the Boobscruise.... no question about it. If you're going to WALMART, just take the bus there and back
I'd recommend going over to Isla Mujeres on the ferry. Not expensive and doesn't take all day. You get the bus right outside the resort (think it's R-15) that'll take you to to the ferry ports (takes about 15 mins). You can either get off at Gran Puerto and take the posh UltraMar ferry, or next stop over get off at Puerto Juarez and take the cheaper ferry that the locals get. Tons of stuff to do on Isla Mujeres, rent a golf cart and explore. The beach at the north side (Playa Norte) has breathtaking views. It is within walking distance from where you get off the ferry. I did a morning trip to Isla Mujeres, and was back by early afternoon.
We are also looking to do something like a ruins. We are there the same time as you. It would be nice to get a few couples and rent a driver/van and check something out. We were thinking the 24or25th.
If you go to Chichen Itza, I highly recommend visiting the Ik Il cenote. It would just be a quick stop for a few leaps into the water, but it is an amazing and unique sight. Google it for some pics, or just go and be surprised!
