Jeff, I think Stacia & I are going to miss you guys, which is no good as Stacia is an excellent ambassador of Temptation, and the fun one can have. First, here's a link to a review I posted to Trip Advisor, ask Laurie to read it: Fantastic for Three More Times! - Review of Temptation Resort Spa Cancun, Cancun, Mexico - TripAdvisor Now, specifically as to your questions/concerns: Q-1. "TTR is NOT 99% swingers and those that are there are not "in your face" about it, and that nobody is ever forced to do something they don't want, or ridiculed for not participating in a game, activity, or whatever." A-1: Right. TTR isn't 99% lifestyle people/couples, I don't know of a place that is. I know what you mean though, so let's be clear. Break this down, maybe this way. The people who go to TTR like sex, sure, but they generally like it with the people they like to be with. You'll probably meet at least one lifestyle couple (ain't us) and they'll talk about it if you ask, but you won't get pushed up on -- unless you get someone you'd not want to be around anyway, which is unavoidable anywhere you go -- so there that is. Unless I'm WAY off, the most, percentage-wise, I've ever personally experienced at TTR for the lifestyle folks is somewhere between 5-10%. Let's say the place holds about 700 folks, so that would be between 35 and 70 of the people swing. And that'd be a LOT. Usually, you may meet one or two couples the entire trip, and you'll literally meet hundreds of cool people, if you wish to try. A-2: My wife, Stacia, has been approached. That's no surprise, she's hot. Hell, I've been approached by women, and I don't consider myself that way, though I am a funny tall MF. Thing is, it isn't anything that a good looking woman wouldn't face anywhere at all, if you left her alone, meaning, by herself, not with a group of people you've met. Of course there are the occasional boors, they exist everywhere, but there's never a "We're having an orgy in 521 and you are coming with, since we're putting you at the bottom of the pile!" That's a funhny thought, but it ain't real. A-3: Stacia & I've been to TTR 8 times now, and only this last time did she finally decide to go join in one of the funny foolish games on stage with our friends Adam & Terri. First time ever, 8 trips,. Nobody ever pressured her to do anything she didn't want to. Simple. Doesn't happen. A-4: I've personally been ridiculed, once, because I said something about being able to drink beer fast, back in college (6-pack Chug competition, Sophomore year). Didn't want to make anyone feel bad about themselves, which I could see coming. As guys do, one guy (cool guy, actually, after this happened), started in on me when I didn't want to chug beers with him, the prize a bodyshot. No prize, really, since bodyshotting is a TTR art form, but what the hell. I could tell he was sort of personally invested in it as sort of his personal image thing, and I've got this ... thing, about just being able to pour it in, and gone. But, he wanted to play. 32 oz. mugs, fill to the top, hand on the handle, and when the bartender (Tiger as it happened) says "Go!!" You chug. Suffice it to say I put mine down and watched him finish. I told you that, admittedely dumb and stupid drunk story, to say this. That's as bad as the "ridicule" gets. When he finished, and realized that'd I'd been watching him finish, we both started laughing. As I said, cool guy. Q-2: "We're still coming, cause the trip is paid for, but I'd love for her (and me) to be able to spend the next 43 days getting excited for the trip, instead of dreading it. This trip is to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, and it's supposed to be fun!" A-5: Trust me, it's going to be an absolute blast. Nobody Knows You and Nobody Gives a S8*T! Keep that mantra in mind, let it loose, have fun, drink too much, let Laurie show a bit more than usual if she wants, you do likewise, and just ride the party wave. It really is easier done than said, if that makes sense.
Every normal person has the same concerns. My wife and I debated months before booking the trip in 2010 and we had a blast! Here was my review right after we got home. Several people on Trip Advisor found it helpful! _______________________________________________________ As you can see from all of the mixed reviews you either LOVE Temptation or you HATE it. And while we were there, we met people on both sides of the fence. So, if you want to know if Temptation is right for you I will make it REAL simple. You first need to ask yourself, why are you going on Vacation? Is it to be pampered? Is it to stay in first class resort, eat 5 star food, drink premium drinks, and get treated like royality? If so, go somewhere else... Temptation is not for you. So who is Temptation right for? It is right for the person/group that is looking to let loose, play hard, and have the time of their lives. Temptations motto is, "Nobody knows you and nobody gives a $hit." And that is the attitiude you need to go into it with. If you do, you will LOVE IT, if you don't, you will be dissappointed. The food is MUCH better then what you will get at Chilli's or Olive Garden but not quite as good as Ruth's Chris or a Legal Seafood. Like I said, if you are looking for 5 star food, temptation is the wrong place. But I was more then happy with it. 4 Stars... Maybe, maybe not. 3 and a half for sure The rooms are nicer then what you get a Holiday Inn, but not as nice as a 4 Seasons. I will say that the air conditioner smelled a little, but I was having too much fun to care. If the bed was a little hard, I didn't noticed. Like I said, I was there to have a blast... I didn't have time to let the nit picky crap bring me down. Don't be mistaken... Temptation is Spring Break for adults. The party starts in the pool around 10 a.m. and ends at Pady O's Lounge at 5 a.m. I would say the average age ranges between early to mid 30s, but there are people in their 20's and 60's as well. My group ranged between the ages of 26 and 32. I went with my wife, my best friend and his girlfriend, and a mutual friend of ours from highschool. And to be honest, we had THE TIME OF OUR LIVES.... We found the resort just crazy enough, but not over the top. Yes the girls get topless, but no one really gets naked. People may kiss in the sexy pool but I didn't really see it go much further then that. I am sure there are plenty of swingers at temptation, but they are real discreet and do there thing behind closed doors. So like I said, if you are going to have a Blast, there is NO WAY you won't have one at Temptation. And the fun you are having will allow you to ignore the little things at the resort that are not perfect. And like I said, there are several things about the resort that aren't perfect, but if you do it right, you won't care
WOW! 21 replies in less than three hours. Incredible! From Jeff: Thanks guys for all the reassuring words, I really appreciate it. We are both looking forward to the trip (again). I'm putting a parental block on Tripadvisor, Yelp, Expedia, and any other review site except this one. Only *I* will have the pasword! From Laurie: Thanks to everyone for taking the time to respond to Jeff's post, I was unaware he did that and next thing I know he tells me there's 20+ responses. Thanks! I really appreciate it. I feel like my fears have been eased a bit and am really looking forward to getting away for a week, from the snow, etc and having some adult time. See everyone in 43 days!
Hello Jeff and Laurie, So glad you concerns are somewhat put to rest ... You will have a blast!! Our first time was August 2011 and this March will be our 4th trip to TTR!! We go because the of the party atmosphere ... we are not in the lifestyle, but have met many that are and have become close friends with them - but, there is a mutual respect and understanding ... don't get me wrong as we do like to have our fun while at TTR, but it is within our comfort zone. So, don't worry - take it all in and have a blast!! Can't wait to read your trip report guys - take care!! Chantelle & Vic
Hi Jeff & Laurie, You will almost certainly have a good time. My wife and I went on our first trip to TTR last April (2012). We had all the concerns that you did. Neither of us is overly outgoing and all though we like to meet new people we are very shy, me more so then Jacquie. We were never pressured to do anything we did not want to do and for the first time in our many trips to Cancun we never wanted to leave the resort. Even though we did not participate in any of the games we spent all of our time at the Sexy pool enjoying the party atmosphere. Some people are very picky about food on their trips but we found the food there to be great. It certainly is not gourmet by any means but for an all inclusive we found it as good or better than any other resort we've been to. We have never gone to any resort more than once and yet as soon as we were able to book time off again we booked our trip back to TTR. We can now officially be called TTR Repeaters. It sounds like we will be there right around the same time as we arrive Feb. 16th and are there till the 23rd. This resort truly brings you out of your shell. I would never have even considered posting on a public blog site before, and now I'm responding to peoples questions. Have a fantastic trip. Jay & Jacquie
just remembered.... Was just thinking about something else while reading this thread. I had a friend from high school that I haven't seen or really even talked to in roughly 15 years. I stay connected only through Facebook and I noticed that he had posted a few picts of a trip to "Cancun", as he had it labeled, with his girlfirend/fiance'. While looking at them I noticed the background of 2 of the picts looked very familiar to what I had seen from the picts on CCC. It was a night at Patyo's. So, I messaged him and asked if by chance they stayed at TTR and what their thoughts were of it. He briefly explained that it was one of the best times he had ever had on a vacation and the "swingers didn't bother them at all." He has no clue about CCC and still after going had the same feelings on the place without the influence of all of us here. Just another thing to say what it is worth from an outside source.
Wow. Great thread, everyone. This should be required reading for anyone with concerns. Last year, we went for our first time. Two other couples were going with us, and many in the group had the same fears. One couple ultimately backed out because of those fears. The rest of us went and hoped we'd survive. Suffice it to say that in just a few days, we're all returning, including the couple who backed out last year.
Hi Laurie, I (Laura) was in exactly the same boat as you. We booked with friends, then looked at the website...and then I was announcing "No way, no how! We are finding someplace else!" Then, we found this site. We even got contacted by a couple from this site who turns out to be practically neighbors, offering to meet for a drink and answer any of our questions. Yes, we worried we were being hit on by swingers. I mean, who does that????? Well, turns out "who does that" are the kind of people who go to TTR--just really nice, open-minded people who are generally more sociable than the average bear. Our first trip, I was really nervous. Within 5 minutes of arrival, though, we had been greeted by another CCC member, introduced to a group, and made to feel at home. Yes, it was awkward having conversations with topless women at first...but after about 20 minutes you just didn't even notice it anymore. No one ever said one word to me about my top being on or off. Everyone is very respectful of others' boundaries and comfort levels since we've all been in the same boat. As for games, the entertainment staff goes around the pool beforehand and asks for volunteers--you won't be called up on the spot or asked to do anything you're not interested in. So, after swearing I wasn't going to TTR, we're heading back for our fourth trip in March (and we're going with the couple who turned out to be our neighbors!) I promise, you'll have a great time.
Glad you guys are at ease. Long story short we didn't stay at TTR our first trip becuse of the same fears, however we went on the Boobs Cruise. Needless to say when we arrived for the cruise we fell in love with the people and the place. We were so bummed to go back to our other resort that evening. Next morning we got up went back to TTR and paid for a day pass. Had so much fun during the day we paid for a room. Crazy I know! We're excited to take our first official trip in 97 days
