We all know lots of foreigners (all nationalities) live in our part of the world, but INM has the official data on this. There are, for example, 10,569 in Quintana Roo who hold migratory documents of some category. With 5,488 of this total living in Benito Juarez Municipality (Cancun), we have the largest number of registered foreigners, in residence. With 3,128, Solidaridad (Playa del Carmen) comes in a somewhat distant second. Isla Mujeres has a tiny population of just 47 registered resident foreigners.
The keyword being registered, hehe Im looking at Playa del Carmen as well. Love the mix between the locals and tourists as its not separated like the HZ here. I would miss the running track and bus system though.
Yeah, the data includes only those who hold what have been termed FM2s and FM3s, not the countless others who stay for up to 180 days at a time but don´t bother with getting permission to live here. Many own property here, and spend large amounts of time here, but don´t hold a migratory document.
