I (lion) am an avid diver and snorkeler, I love the ocean, fishes and marine life. Zebra will be joining me for the first time, and I dont think she is ready to dive. Snorkel for sure.

I have been to the Talum area several times. Hang out with the turtles when I am there.

This trip is a little different though......

Where am I going with this?

Do I pack up my mask, fins, booties and snorkel?

    Its an extra.....

Most places have the equipment,,,, but bring your head gear and use their fins,, saves room in the luggage , good compromise

There is some good diving right from the resort Lion. Boris is the dive master and he gives resort courses at the pool and books trips from a pier a 2 min walk from the resort.

I have had several friends do the resort course with him and I have sat with them while he went over the material and in my opinion, he is very safety conscious and an excellent instructor.

As a certified diver, he will take you (weather dependent) off the point of Cancun where there is some good diving (it's still not as good as down near Cozumel). Generally the groups are small (maybe 4/5 ppl max).

Other than Boris's hockey allegiance (he's from Vancouver / Canucks fan) I totally recommend Diving with Boris!

I was going to bring everything too, but how far does one go.....
Its not like its easy to pack, its a lot of stuff, an extra bag etc etc. People always look at me like I am insane when I drop my bag on the pier and strip down to my skivvies to put on my wet suite just to snorkel, but what they dont understand is I will be out there for 2-3 hours sometimes.

Been doing it long enough that I can snorkel in open waters and follow currents and waves back into shore, not worried about tides taking me anywhere, other than down :)

I was thinking my mask, snorkel, fins and booties.
If I don't plan to dive there should be no need for my wet suite and stuff.

While my fins are a bitch to pack, I like my own gear for a reason.

Two years ago the dive master at the resort tried to buy my fins from me because quality gear in mexico is very expensive.

But Temptations is not like any resort I have ever been to where you NEED to find something to do, there is always things to do there.

I agree, your own gear is best.....but how does one balance the weight vs a couple extra cans of alcohol infused whipped cream????

I don't snorkel much.....so I rarely take my snorkel as I don't bother with it when I dive.

We will bring our fins, snorkels and masks for sure. Fry doesn't have his own scuba equipment but does borrow sometimes, but not for this trip. I think he is picking up a wetsuit though. We were in Jamaica in December and he found that it did get cold after a while in the water. We still have to go over all the snorkeling footage he took with his GoPro.
