Hi All, 1st timers here, and we are wanting to have a Japanese dinner one night while in Cancun (Jan 26-Feb 3) most likely on our Anniversary. Will we need to go off TTR or do one of the fine restaurants at the resort offer Sashimi? We love the aphrodisiac effect after such cuisine.
Ummm...unless you relish sushi rolls with cream cheese, you'd best venture off the resort to find some sushi/sashimi. There is NO sashimi at TTR that I have ever seen in 3 trips, and there is not a lot of seafood in the sushi rolls that are served...they are mostly cucumber and cream cheese and unidentifiable neon pink or yellow psuedo-fish substance. They don't taste bad, just nothing like the kind of sushi we are used to in North America. Steve can probably recommend a sushi restaurant, although I don't think Mexico in general is known as a sushi mecca.
I should add that a couple of nights per week, Paty-O's used to have EXCELLENT seared tuna at the cocktail hour between pool time and dinnertime. Man, it was YUH-UH-UH-MMY! The bad news is that I didn't see it even once during my last trip in September of 2012. Sure hope they have it again in April 2013! ((smacks lips)) We Vancouverites love our raw fish!
Good to know, I've missed seeing that on my trips to date, but I've only been to the Asian restaurant twice in total. It would be frozen salmon, though. We get spoiled with the fresh stuff here on the West Coast.
