a bbg/temptation veteran goes to desire...

OUCH I hear you, that's a huge difference. We would love to try Desires someday, but we vacation 4 weeks a year, plus a couple of long weekends, one of the things we love about TTR is that we can get there a couple times a year as well as our kids vacations and stay within our "vacation budget"

Maybe TTR should experiment with some Affordable Desire weeks at their Cancun location.(Something similar as they did in Cabo).

What aspects of both do you like?
For us, the Au Natural is a big plus at Desire, the couples thing? Not so sure, some of the single youngsters have been fun (platonic!!!!!) at TTR. Desire does not have a swim up bar = no socialising during the day.
Food, I have to say is better and more varied at TTR (bigger resort).
The lifestyle thing is not important to us, but the "vibe" is - get that at both resorts??
The daytime entertainment is so much more at TTR, but nights at Desire beat TTR hands down.
All comes down to $$$ at the end of the day!

 

point 1 - au natural - love naked girls hate naked guys lol (t is fine with both) don't really enjoy seeing tons of naked men - I try not to look too much

point 2 - t would agree with single guys I would not - because she just loves all guys lol - but im not really that fond of additional Oscars near me

point 3 - other than Oscars (did I mention that I hate dick? lol) my next thing on the non positive list would be the lack of the swim up bar - agree completely - but we were fortunate enough to meet people in swimming pool anyway.....and after 3pm the swim up bar/hot tub socialization blows away anything at Temptation by a million miles

point 4 - food agree kind of - specialty rest. are better and you do not have to have reservations - definitely favor that grand buffet at Temptation over desire buffet

point 5 - definitely get the free spirited or "lifestyle" vibe at booth locations - strangely enough - just way more subtle at desire than Temptation - people seem to have a little more tact in these matters at desire than temptation (vibe is far more mature and less shallow in this regard)

point 6 - nights are so much better at desire - we find we need the rest during the day so days don't matter as much for us

point 6 - true dat - just means we have to work a little harder or cut money from other places

 

Just thought I would throw in something here in regard to pricing - just a fact of life - you can't compare hotel pricing in the HZ vs properties located down the coast on the Riviera Maya.

For instance for the same week Rob and t are going to be at Desire RM (Adult only/AI) in May(the start of low season) here are prices for two other Riviera Maya (Adult only/AI) properties in their cheapest room categories

(Hotels only) AI for two people

Azul Sensatori $405.34 per night
Excellence Riviera $426.56 per night

Azul Sensatori $2837.38 total for 7 nights
Excellence Riviera $ 2985.92 total for 7 nights

 

But surely these are 5* not 4*? So not all about location?

The simple criteria I used was Adult Only, AI and located on the Riviera Maya
- sure, the two I mentioned may offer things/amenities that Desire does not but Desire definitely offers other things that the two I mentioned do not

Did I mention that I've been to both of them and they are frankly boring, very little interaction/socializing happens amongst the guests they just all lay or stand around and wait for the ECs to try to entertain them.....
