Hi Everyone! My husband and I just booked our trip to Temptation and got a sweet Boxing Day sale price! We're going to celebrate our 10th anniversary for 2 weeks in April. The last time we went to an all inclusive was for our honeymoon at Aventura Spa Palace, so I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions between now and then! For example, how do we avoid frying our pasty white selves the first day and being in agony the rest of the trip (which happened last time)? A little about us: We'll both be 31 at the time of our trip and live near Toronto. Our trip of choice the past few years has been to Vegas (I've been 4 times since Sept. 2010), so it's time for a change! I'm also a complete board whore (can I say that word here? lol), so I'm sure I'll be here a lot before the trip (brace yourselves for a lot of stupid questions!). I think half the fun of a trip is the anticipation and boards sure help me with that! I'm hoping there will be a Boobs Cruise when we go, because it looks awesome! I'm also hoping to make some fun friends to hang out with while we're there! I look forward to getting to know everyone! Cheers! Martina :beer4:
Be ready to have a blast, and there will be a Boobs Cruise or two or three if you are going to be at TTR for two weeks in April.
Welcome to the asylum! You picked a great time to go. Take a peek at these two threads to get an idea of who you may bump into: http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/temptation-resort-cancun/23039-april-addicts-2013-a.html#post468017 http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/tem...l-addicts-2013-what-your-name.html#post510395 And keep an eye open for Steve's official roll call thread in the near future.
I have a severe case of Canadian Pasty White Assedanemia. I used 30 on face, ears, and feet. The first week I used 30 on the rest as well, then stepped down to 15 for chest, back, arms, and legs later in the trip (second week). No burns, except on my feet when I did not realise the flippers I used snorkeling (on the Boobs Cruise) took the screen off. The burns weren't that painful, but my feet swelled so they were severeish. If I had it to do over I would have taken some 8 as well for some sun bathing days and kept a close eye on the skin. Take your sunscreen with you. As I understand it most Mexicans don't use it so everything there is marked up high for the gringos.
Thanks! I think we'll probably just end up using 30 the whole trip just to be safe. I think the key is reapplying often. Our problem last time was that we put it on at 10 am, then sat at the swim up bar/played water volleyball until the afternoon without reapplying. Oops!
Get yourself a 30 or 60 day unlimited tanning membership prior to your arrival and go 4-days a week. That will help remove your pasty white glow prior to arrival, still use plenty of sunscreen - especially in the peak UV hours of 11am - 2pm as you will be much closer to the equator the UV rays are signifcantly stronger than in Canada.
Martina, secret to not becoming a fried fish the first couple of days is to put on the SPF 30 early AND Often. The hard part is remembering to put more on as the day goes on, as the sun's rays have a deleterious and diminishing effect on the sunscreen. It literally "wears away" as the sun beats on it. So, renew it frequently! Ask a new friend to put it on you and have your husband take pics, that also helps. Really. No, really, it does.
we went same time as you last april we did 3 boobs cruises. The first one sold out in just hours. Keep you eye on ccc watch for the Boobs Cruise sticky
I go for a spray tan so I don't arrive looking nasty-pasty at the resort. Despite my love for beach vacations, I don't love what they do to my skin, so I avoid the tanning beds, cheat with a spray tan, and then tan moderately while wearing sunblock at the resort. I'm actually going to try 2 spray tans 2 days apart this April. Fifty Shades of Orange lol
Hey Karen, you said, "I'm actually going to try 2 spray tans 2 days apart this April. Fifty Shades of Orange lol" Just wanted you to know, it DOES work!
