Last year we booked through Expedia, and a few days later the price went down. I called in and they refunded me matching the advertised price, and gave us a 50$ gift card. Just a thought!
This is just an example for the people that were flying out of Halifax ( not a major hub),, theres other flight options buy changing in dates and companies I noticed this year the direct charter flights seem to be more. I can get 10 nights for the price of 7 ,, but like you said there not direct flights. I like 10 nights good compromise between 7 an 14. Steve mentioned we can fly to the Island instead of the fairy.
Donald right now in Alberta the packaged flights and Hotel (TTR) are showing 10 to 15 hours of travel or over night.. and if you want a direct its $700.00 more... now I know after xmas more direct flights show up.. and usually the prices drop for hotels.. it is scary at the moment. if I had to pay/book the going price right now at $5300.00 for 2 people for 14 night with direct flights, Id be going someplace way more upscale .. lol
I seriously don't ever remember it being so high and flights so long,, if it weren't for the good company and good times, I may take up snowmobiling instead of heading south,,,,, NOT
You just have to keep checking. We booked ours two weeks ago and paid the same as last year and added 1extra night. We can be flexible with dates since I am a stay at home mom and hubby works for the family business, so we leave on wed feb 13th and come home on the 21st. Flights were a lot cheaper since they were during the week.
By next week I will have stepped onto a plane 85 times, for 2012. I book my own flights for company travel but am reimbursed and can say flights the last two years I have not gone down, but have only gone up... and I generally travel to the same set of places throughout the year. I need to keep track so I can manage my budget. Two years ago I think we booked flights for just over $300 a person and I have never seen it that low since.
I remember Macroeconomics in undergrad. I think it was Econ101? or maybe 102? Either way, if there is a limited amount of an item, meaning that the "Supply" is fixed, yet the demand for the item is increasing, then the price goes up. TTR's room supply is limited. They have ... 384 rooms, booked to double occupancy at 100% is 768 party people on any one day, maximum capacity. So, sure. If there are, what, 200 Addicts out there and they are all coordinating to party together on a specific week, there you go. They just knocked out 200 (maybe 400 if they are all coples) of the available 768 spots.
I wonder if there are any plans in the future to increase occupancy size? It looks like the resort has taken over other buildings as and when they've needed to, so how would they build further to meet demand? Wikipedia reckons TTR site is the oldest hotel in Cancun, I imagine there might be some building regulations restricting any modifications to the original design?
