I have travelled through and to many countries with sporting firearms. Every country has its own laws about entrering with firearms. It can be done but typically there is a lot of paperwork involved. This all has to be done BEFORE you enter into a foreign country. He is a DUMBASS for even trying to leave the US with a firearm. He will have his day in court but he will not like the outcome.

Hmm going to take a little umbrage there... After all this is an internationally aimed website. I'm not going to wade into the whole gun control issue, there are plenty of cultural differences between the US, Canada, UK etc.

But people from Canada te UK etc do get put in Mexican prisons as well. I don't know how the Mexican justice system functions. I know here it can take several months in jail before someone goes to trial if you don't or can't post bail. Do I think he should be in jail? No not personally, but i also don't think the Mexican government is being cruel and unusual necessarily either.

Let's keep the slagging off of each others countries out of this please. Also it's nothing to do with the hotel so I'll move it to the free for all forum.

Pretty good thanks. How is your right to carry a gun working for you?

    2011 Figures:
London, population 8 million, 29 firearm murders. 23% of all murders.
New York, population 8 million, 311 firearm murders. 60% of all murders.

Thank you for stating my point perfectly Steve. This has nothing to do with one country over the other. It is a matter of knowing the laws of the country you are traveling to and abiding by them.

Apples to Oranges there. New York has some of the toughest "gun control" laws. If you to compare to my home state, which is licensed to carry, population of about 10 million, firearms account for about 10% of all murders, and over crime has decreased since concealed carry has been enacted.

There are evil people everywhere and they will find a way to do harm no matter what.

Not at all, I consider them very similar. Biggest cities in the country, equal population, similar demographics of inhabitants.

Michigan? Isn't that the State with the 2 most violent cities in the US? Flint and Detroit?

Yeah Detroit, we have been trying to annex that to Canada for years but they won't take it! :)
