If you are going to use a tanning bed, now is a good time to look for deals. Our local tanning salon is offering a "Buy a $50 gift card, get a $25 gift card free" promotion. This is for the holidays, and the free $25 can't be used until after January 1st. Pretty good deal.
Do not get fooled into paying for the larger beds or stand up (tanning) unless your a large person Its all about how old the tubes are,, A good establishment keeps track of the age of the tubes and informs you to adjust you r time accordingly '
First off, I hate going to a tanning bed. That being said, since I live in the snow belt and go to Mexico in January, I don't have much of a choice. I do use the stand up booth, for no reason other than I absolutely hate laying down in those beds.
Well i think just be a sunworshipper and stay out in every second you can whether working around home or out on your boat on the lake...im highly upset if i dont get to spend several hours a day atleast 4 to 5 days a week during the warm months and wow i burn it up while in cancun...nothing like roasting in the sun lol
The stand up bed is the best way to avoid the "boob shadow" - I rotate it into the mix to fill in the white on the right and left sides of the boobs from the lay down beds. Not all places have the stand up bed/booth, but it works way better than trying to lay on your side on a double-sided bed. It also helps fill in the white spot at the tailbone that can show up if you use a double sided bed too often. Do ask when they changed the light bulbs, because that does matter. Hopefully they will tell you the truth ... The different types of beds are important to understand - if there is a free bed in an apartment complex or somewhere like a health club, it is probably the old standard type where time is the only factor to consider, and you really need to be careful in those beds with over-exposure if you are very pale. The tanning places will have different types of beds, the regular ones, a "mixture" of high/low pressure, and the high pressure beds that cause less burning and more browning (but don't do much to condition your skin to handle the tropical sun). I was never able to get a great tan fast until I used a high pressure bed, they rock! I like less time spent in those beds, and just using a lot of sunblock and hats in Cancun - protects my face from wrinkles and too much damage, I just want the color, not the conditioning so much anymore. After moving to Seattle from SoCal, I felt like I made a vampire look tan within 6 months :-0 My avatar picture shows me pretty tan, that was after only 2 weeks in a high pressure (level 5) bed daily, before our Oct. 2011 trip. I can maintain a pretty nice color now with only 12 minutes once per week in a level 5 bed - sometimes even less frequent (and I alternate one time in stand up bed, one time in the lay down bed - when we go to Cancun in January I won't have a boob shadow anymore! Woot!).
I vote for standup. When we sold our tanning salon a couple years ago, we got on a Craigslist search and bought a standup just like the one we had in the shop for home. Picked it up pretty reasonable(I think after installing new lamps less than 2500.00) from a salon that was going out of business. They take up alot less space and it is very convenient to step out in the garage for a tan. I hated the laydowns but to each their own.
Yeh they are more comfortable, cooler , and feel more hygienic cause ya ain't touching the glass but our Studio charges 2 for one for the stand up and cause the tubes are further away from your skin I find you need more time then the lay down ones , hence the preference.
My tanning place has a stand up level 4 so it is actually less of an upgrade than the level 5 lay down bed - hotter than HELL (so great on a really cold day) and only 9 minutes exposure time. I'm just glad they got one because boob shadows are a tough thing to deal with! :aktion033:
Dude, you guys own a stand up tanning bed?! - we are so coming over to visit one of these days! :aktion069:
Come on! She kept her Norvell spray tan system too. Spray tan parties are about as much fun as the whipped cream parties lol..........
