I would like to get to go to Senior Frogs and Coco Bongos this year, I am just not comfortable with only the 2 of us going. Anyone here go, is it worth it?
Last time Cheryl went to Senior Frogs she wound up dancing on tables panty less with the crew from a visiting US warship. But that was Cozamel, so maybe she will behave herself this time. Or not. :icon_biggrin:
I went years and years ago and it was pretty awesome. From what I remember the only thing that was difficult was getting drinks. Gotta tip if you even want a chance at something, which I always did, but even still. A few of us have talked a bit about going so if that pans out; the more the merrier. What night is it that the resort has a shuttle or something head down there?? I thought I heard about that.
Jenny & I are def interested in going one night, I'm sure there may be more. I think I read there was a shuttle running everynight? Will have to pick a night to go, but not Lingerie night, or naughty school girl night...
The resort sends a shuttle to a club every night, leaving around 10:30-11, if I remember correctly. As of last February, the schedule (resort theme nights listed first) was: Fri White Night / The City Sat Pool Party / DadyO's Sun Dare to be Tempted / Sweet Mon Caribbean Heat / CocoBongo Tues Karaoke + Live Band / Cabana Beach Club Wed Revelation + DJ / Mandala Thur Lingere / CocoBongo I would hate to leave PatyO's on Lingerie night, so if you want to go to CocoBongos I'd shoot for Monday (unless the schedule has changed...) I think you can go regular or VIP (we actually got a big group together and they set up a separate bus for us one night - needed 25 minimum I think). It's set up with a (VERY BUSY) bar on the floor and room for a lot of people to stand and watch the show and dance between acts, then there are stadium levels up the side for VIP, where you have a bar stool, there's a little room to dance (but really just with the people right around you), a dedicated bartender (still not super-fast, but not bad - order 2 at a time), and a better view of the show. I want to say the prices were $60 and $95 or something like that (includes bus, admission and all your drinks - you get your own cab back, ~$10-15 for 3 or maybe 4 people). It was really cool to see once, but if we go to a club again it will probably be one more dance-centric.
Might as well talk about the other clubs we've been to... The other clubs we've been to are The City and Mandala. City is HUGE. I think they can hold 5K people or something like that. It's like a club in a small football stadium - roughly football-field sized floor for dancing and general admission, and stadium seating up the sides for VIP. There's a stage way up over the front bar (in one "end zone") where there are some dancers who are too far up and away to see very well. The sound system was not terrible for such a hangar-like space, but def not great. But the #1 impression our group had of City: 19 year-old sausage fest. We saw multiple fights in a couple of hours and the girls were uncomfortable every time they had to wade downstairs to go to the bathroom. We won't be back. Mandala we liked a lot. Compared to City it's small, but I'd say it holds several hundred people. It has a higher-quality feel about it in general. There's a round dance floor in front, (maybe 25 feet across?) (actually open to the street, but far enough away and with the DJ booth in between that you know you're not ON the street), and it's surrounded by a semi-circle of stadium seats. I'm no pro, but we thought the sound system was excellent, and the music was great for dancing (mostly EDM-style remixes of top-40ish stuff), and there were cool lights and fog and stuff like that. If you're really wanting to go out and dance, it's hard for me to imagine a much better place. If you're wanting a show (CocoBongo) or crazy shenanigans (Senor Frog's - based on Cozumel, haven't been in CUN), then it's not your place. Anybody that's been to the others I'd love to hear about it! Of course we might not leave the resort this trip at all - it's hard to top the late-night action at TTR!
Any traction with the the uniform night? Ive seen a couple uniform theme night pics and looks like a lot of fun for all
