I worked out that it would cost over 200 dollars for the 2kg excess on the 6 flights !!!!would rather spend it on beer lol ..

 

I'm wearing about 3 layers of clothes on the flight to keep within luggage allowance! Plus we're not taking any toiletries and picking them up later to save on luggage!

I've had a gread idea. Items on your person don't count as your luggage allowance, so I'm taking a couple of lanyards and hanging stuff like money, camera, anything else that I can get away with around my neck whilst I go through the weigh area. Once through security I can put it back in my hand luggage bag, as it won't matter then if it's over 5kg!

Two weeks is tough to pack for, plus our allowances are pretty low!

 

Has anyone heard anything about the possible Spirt airlines flight attendant strike looming?? I guess they already took the strike vote and it can happen at any time now. I don't mind being stranded in Mexico for a extra few days, but I really don't want to get stuck at Detroit airport when I show up to fly down south!!

 

Just checked the Association of Flight Attendants web site and it sounds kile they are picketing at airports this wk. but not striking. The a possible arbitration decision may come any day which will cause a 30 day cooling off period and push back the strike deadline.... or at least that is how it "seems" to read. At least I hope that is what it says since we are flying with them from the 3rd and the 13th of Dec. As always good luck when flying with them. ( We use them a lot.)

 

Thanks for the info. We fly out on the second of December. I called Orbitz and tried to switch to Delta instead but was told Spirit doesn't offer refunds and have to just wait till my travel date and see what happens. Ugh, Detroit is convient as its 30 mins across the US border from us, but I think next time I'm just going to drive the 3hrs to Toronto and fly out from there.
