when we were there 2 weeks ago.. TTR said they have a special Deal presentation for repeaters to be premier members not through RCI but through original resorts.. we listened and did not think it was a deal for us for what they think is value.. which was just our personal opinion but they told us that Alpharooms will not be selling TTR rooms come Janurary... the also knew that we got the Alpharooms deal that was a mistake and Alpha rooms is paying the difference in price to TTR.. we also had to sign a form stating that the alpharoom pricing was a mistake and we would/could never be able to recieve that price again.. I am not sure that TTR has control over who sells there rooms at what rate once the travel agent buys the block of rooms to sell but TTR seems to think they can.. I guess we will see how this plays out. P.S. this story could also have been a play on trying to sell us a time share.. leading us to believe that Alpharooms would not be able to sell TTR rooms any longer..***this is what I believe to be true****just saying.
Yeah I don't generally buy into the timeshare/membership jive either. Sometimes it works out and others it doesn't. Although I definitely can see their point in what they were telling you. It does seem to match with what a lot of people on here have been saying about having to sign a waiver when they check in or they wouldn't be able to stay. As far as Alpha goes and TTR "controlling" how much they can charge it all has to written into the contract when they but a block of rooms. TTR has to look out for the vested interests of the financial backers, members and also their own profit lines. If Alpha goes and tries to liquidate their block of rooms maybe they are still turning a profit by selling at $99/nt but they could be going against the contract and rubbing people the wrong way, resulting in them needing to pay the difference. A slight of hand if you will. They gain attention and notoriety for selling at very good prices and people flock to them from now on, especially those that hear of the promo and didn't get it. They will forever believe that Alpha has the lowest rates around without shopping. Not saying that is the case but iit would be a decent assumption. Steve should have a good idea though if Alpharooms is not going to be selling TTR come next year seeing as though the site is "partnered".
Heads up!!! fun and sun getaways is a bullshit booking for the $99/nt! I just spent 1/2 hour on the phone with them and am waiting for a supervisor/owner to call within the next 24hrs. Hopefully Karen can chime in on any legal aspect to this? NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM PISSED!!!:ranting1::ranting1::ranting1: I booked on Nov 11th, and got a confirmation number(fun and sun's) while the web site said there was still 8 hours left to the promotion. Within a few hours they had charged my card with the amount of $814.28 for 7 nights. I had called TTR and they said I did not have a reservation number though TTR and I should wait until a month or 2 before travel to see if it clears. No wanting to do that I called "fun an sun" to see what the issue is. According to them(fun and sun) my reservation had been put on hold and that is why I had not received a confirmation. The reason for it being put on hold is they are "no longer running that promotion". When I asked when the promotion ended they said November 15th, four days after I booked and was charged. Now they said they could book some other place but they are not able to book me at TTR because they aren't running that promo. I asked when they were going to tell me that they couldn't get me a confirmation for a room and they didn't have an answer. They also couldn't answer how they couldn't get me a room when I was confirmed and paid 4 days before they stopped the promotion. If you did book through this site, PLEASE double check via email, so you have written confirmation that you do have a confirmed reservation through TTR with their own number. Also ask them if there is any possible way you could be cancelled or not booked by the time you arrive, even if you do have a confirmation number. Guess you get what you pay for. I think I would gladly pay a higher price for piece of mind!
Just an FYI....and who knows if it will work this year but the last few years, I have booked our trip either Black Friday or Cyber Monday. I am hoping for a great deal from either www.applevacations.com, www.orbitz.com or www.funjet.com. The last couple years, Orbitz has been our friend.
Is the orbitz deal refundable in case the fun and sun deal ends up being legit? Is fun and sun directly saying no deal or are they still saying what they always have which is you won't have a TTR confirm number until 60 days?
