(from the wife) On our first wonderful trip to TTR in September we couldn't help but notice all of the amazing tattoos so many people were sporting. Especially in the sexy pool where so little was covered up! LOL. I am a tattoo virgin but hoping to change that in the near future so I can show it off on our next trip! :icon_cool: I've been wanting to do this for a very long time but I still haven't decided on a design. Would anyone be interested in posting pics of their tattoos? Maybe yours will inspire me. And share the story behind it if you want to. Thanks!
My suggestion would be,,,, don't just choose some random picture/design that looks cool. Put a lot of thought into it. Design your own, choose something that has a special/significant meaning to you. Memorial for loved ones, something that represents a special achievement or milestone in your life. Just be prepared though,,, once you get one you will want more. They are addictive. I have 6 myself and they all have some special story behind them. Good luck in your tattoo search and time in the chair. :headbanger:
I agree with the above, I did a lot or research on the tattoo artists and what they are good at. There are a lot of crappy artist and there are a lot of good ones. They all specialize in different things. I had a portrait tattoo done of my 2 dogs since passed away due to cancer and old age. It took me 4years to find the right artist. It is almost complete after 2sessions each being 6.5hrs long. Well worth every minute knowing the pain they went through but did not show it. Everyday that I see that tat brings fond memories of my best friends. I have another 3-4 hrs left to complete.
Thanks for your suggestions. I definitely want to do something meaningful to me. I just haven't decided exactly how I want to portray that message. Trust me, I don't take this decision lightly. My problem is I've given it so much thought that I'm having trouble narrowing it down! I'm mostly interested in seeing different tattooing styles to give me a better idea of what really appeals to me. Plus, I simply appreciate the art form and would love to see what others have done. As for becoming addicted. I believe it!
Thank you for sharing your story. Your tattoo obviously has a very special meaning to you and I think that's great. When we were at TTR we met a great couple and the male half also had an amazing tattoo of two of their dogs. They were extremely well done. (If you see this Z, post a pic!) I will be very picky about the artist I choose. I don't just want a tattoo, I want a work of art. This is forever after all. I want to get one soon but if I don't find the right artist I will wait until I do. Good luck with the rest of your time in the chair. It would be great if you post a picture when it's done.
I got my first tattoo when I turned 18. It's a tiny one just above my ankle. When I was in the tattoo shop, the tattooist said it was the smallest tattoo he'd ever done (is about 1 inch long and half an inch wide). I'm surprised it looks good - my leg started shaking uncontrollably on its own accord when it was on the counter! When I turned 21, I had a 2nd tattoo done on my left arm. Again its just a pattern, so no meaning and not unique. What annoys me is when the tattooist put the transfer of the pattern on, it was a bit lop-sided. I mentioned it at the time, but he said it was fine and straight. I let it go, and had the tattoo done with lop-sided transfer shape. Now I'm kicking myself because it isn't straight, and it's permanent so nothing I can do about it! I've always said I'd keep up the tradition and get another tattoo when I turned 30, 40 and 50. I'm celebrating my 30th at TTR so slim chance of getting that tattoo, plus money is tight, and I want a unique one next time. I want to create a design (using my artistic talent) that is unique to me illustrating all of my favourite things, and that is going to cost a lot!
I have a butterfly on my ankle i got as a 30th Bday present to myself. 30 being the girl/woman dividing line. The butterfly represents me coming out of my coccoon after a period of metamorphsis...a woman coming into her own...confidence and sexuality if you will. Get something meaningful to you...you will have it forever. Perhaps have the artist drawn it out on paper before you have him/her ink it into your skin. Good luck chicka.
this was incredibly hard to get a decent angle while trying to hold my cell phone up. picture does not do it justice. pudpw.jpg at Free Image Hosting
