Hi everyone! I remember reading some posts here last year about taking wine down to the resort with you on the plane. Any suggestions the best way? I think a few suggested a box in your checked luggage? I enjoy a glass while getting ready for the evening and find it hard to get a decent wine there as well as a wine glass outside the restaurants? Who the hell wants to drink wine out of a plastic glass? Any suggestions would be appreciated!:flagcanada::aktion030::ernaehrung005:
wallmart I always pop to wallmart get a few decent bottles of wine and a couple of wine glasses xx problem solved.
That works too if Walmart has decent wine! I assume by your comment that it does, so I guess you can go duty free wine on the way in or wine from Walmart when you arrive.
I am getting more efficient at packing, so last time I had enough space left in my baggage weight allowance (probably due to outfits getting progressively smaller with each trip :icon_mrgreen, and I brought one bottle down in a padded insulated sleeve, packed into the middle of my suitcase to avoid breakage from rough handling. Some people use special plastic bubble-wrap wine bags you can buy at the liquor store. It's really nice to have a good bottle of wine at dinner, especially at the Italian restaurant. There's no decent wine to be bought at a decent price in Cancun, at least close by the resort. No glass glasses around the pool though, or Paty-O's. Just in the restaurants. Unfortunate but necessary safety precaution with so many clumsy drunks stumbling around. :icon_biggrin: Oh, but there are glass highball glasses in the rooms. Not wine glasses, but at least they're glass!
Ah, I was posting while Sue was posting. Good to know Walmart has some decent wine. However, Sue comes to TTR for 2+ weeks and really has to watch her baggage weight from oveseas, so bringing wine really isn't an option for her. I personally don't want to leave the resort long enough to make the trek to Walmart when my trip is only a week long.
We pack a pair of stemless wine glasses in our (actually my) suitcase. The box they came in is sturdy and we have had no problems. IMO, the vino is drinkable in a decent glass. Be sure the bottle is fresh, or you will get vinegar. I may pack a bottle or two of vino to take along for our next trip. Right next to the AIWC:aktion030:
We bring a box of Pino Grigio in checked bag every trip, not Ur high end stuff but u can get some decent boxed wine now
Very true... Bota boxes are equivilant to 3 bottles of wine, and if you remove the bladder from the box it will take a little less space than one bottle of wine...
