Best place to book GP and what rate ?

I am looking at the GP for sometime around March 2013. What is the best site to book it through and what rate should I expect? Right now the best I seem to see for 2 people is around $1800 for 7 nights.

 

Thats a good price. But depends where u are coming from.

The last 4yrs we been paying $1100-$1200 per person during March flying from midwest.



Also, dont wanna burst your bubble.....feb and march you will most likely to be BUMPED to Great Parnassus. Just a heads up!

 

Thanks for the warning on a bump. I will try to get it locked in somehow. I definitely do not want to be bumped anywhere.

$1800 is just for the resort. I already have the airfare.

 

ohhhh 1800 for hotel? ouch!

theres really no way of locking it until you get there honestly. ive seen people called and "confirm" their room with their travel agent and still get bumped when they get there.


it depends what day you get there and what time also. but it could be lottery too...... ive been bumped before, but they bumped me to TEMPTATIONS and it was GREAT experience lol

 

1. So if $1800 for 2 of us is high, what should we be looking to pay?
2. If we get bumped, can we insist on an "adults only" venue ?

 

We went this last June for right at 2200.00. That included flights. We booked thru vacationstogo.com

always better deal if booked as a package with flight.


as far as getting bumped......i know before they offer another ADULTS resort (temptations only) but last year i heard you have no choice but the Great. i met alot of pissed off people.


and they dont bump you for the WHOLE trip, just for a night or two then they will upgrade your room to oceanview, etc...

 

So are saying that I could go through the trouble to pay for an Adults only resort and end up at a family resort when I get there ? Does that really happen? That kind of makes me want to book it at a place where I know I am going to get what I paid/booked and not something else.

I have stayed at 4 other resorts down there and never been bumped or had any similar experience. That kind of scares me a bit.

 

sorry, i didnt mean to scare you off. its just instances that happens and want you to be aware of.


there are ALOT of repeat guest that go back (usually same time every year) to GOLDEN.
WHEN im in cancun, i will never stay anywhere BUT golden. thats how much i love this place (mostly because of the staff.....and food is great too...but 95% coz of the staff)


i, myself has been to Golden 13 times. i usually go 2times a year. next month i will be there for the 3rd time this year.

Mid Feb to Late March are notorious to being overbooked and thats when bumping happens.

808, I went back and looked at some of your old posts and see that you and others have used Alpha rooms and liked them. I just ran some dates on them and they are defiantly coming in lower than all the US based companies. Do you still think they are a good way to go for just booking the resort ?
