Trish, was it easy to get a change in $MXO when paying in $USD? Any places near by the hotel to change EURO or $USD into local currency?
    Thanks

Most places will give you change in $MXO when paying in $USD as standard - I've heard if you pay for the bus in $USD you don't get any change at all.

There are plenty of places to change currency in the hotel zone once you arrive, the airport, the shop over the road from the resort does it and even at the hotel, however, exchange rate is in favour of the hotel/shop so you're going to get a pretty bum deal.

Better option would be to change in advance, or if not possible change at the airport before your flight there. What airport are you travelling from? Most have a Burea de Change and generally acceptable exchange rate. You can order in advance over the internet and pick up on the day you travel at airports too.

Good idea. I've just commented on my personal experience. We only took $MXO last time and struggled because a) only had high denominations to start off with and found it impossible to tip correctly b) wanted to do things that were priced in $USD and struggled converting 3 ways to figure out how much it cost in £GBP to make sure wasn't being ripped off!
