We are first timers and are booked for Feb 2013 and are wondering what the meaning of different color wristbands. different menus at restaurants and liquor selection i guess are the ones that concerned us if they are true, do we still get to go to all the bars and restaurants? If so,how do we get upgraded or i guess any help would be appreciated...thanks
Great question. First, when you check in you will be given a resort wristband which signals to the security staff that you are allowed to be on property. Red- Normal guest. You are able to get into all restaurants and get unlimited food/booze anywhere you go. This includes all the fun drinks and shots too. Officially you only get "well drinks" but we usually find that a good tip and a request will get you the booze with recognizable names. As for the restaurants, you can go in and order anything you want but there are usually 2-3 items per restaurant that have a surcharge if you want them. This includes lobster @ $20-24 dollars or Premier membership menu items that will run a normal guest around $14 to order. You still get 6-12 items to choose from without any surcharge and they are pretty clearly marked. We had no trouble eating at the Asian restaurant 4 times, getting different items each time and not even looking at the surcharge items. Silver- These are timeshare guests who bought a membership on the welcome tour. They get top shelf booze at all of the bars as well as their own stewards/waiters at the pool who will bring them these top shelf drinks. Also, when they go into the restaurants there are a few options that they can choose from at no extra cost. Depending on their membership package, they usually get 1 free lobster dinner with each stay as long as they stay a minimum number of nights. My understanding is that if you already booked your package, the only way to upgrade is to buy into the timeshare. Decide for yourself but we just decided that for our situation it would be cheaper in the long run to pay for the lobster ourselves and come as a normal member. The memberships have changed over the years so you may find the deal better than we did. Also, there are two other wristbands: Orange- These are unofficial bracelets and can be acquired by attending any of Steve's Boobs cruises (not the ones offered at the towel hut) or some people pre-acquire an orange bracelet from stores like Party City. These help CancunCare members to identify each other. White- Also an unofficial bracelet. They help swingers id each other. What Boy & Girl said nailed it. Stacia & I got our membership in April, and when we came back in August (and while there at the end of the April trip once we did the joining thing), we got the nifty service around the pool, etc. That was very cool. Also, if you're a member, you can request simple food items around the pool and the stewards will get it for you, e.g. pizzas, sandwiches, etc.
HUH I know about the orange bracelets but had no idea about the white one's for us swingers! :icon_eek: are they new?
