V, the perception of Romney is that he is out of touch with the vast majority of American voters, but then, what can be said of Obama? Is he any more in touch with American voters? Does saddling a nation with over $50,000 in debt for every man, woman, and child in this nation qualify someone for a second chance? The media will continue to do all it can to get Obama re-elected. He will add to his many firsts as the first President to be re-elected with 8% unemployment, a ballooning deficit, and a foreign policy in disarray. Sadly in America perception is the key. The perception that Wal Mart and Home Depot are cheaper than their competitors, the perception that oil prices are controlled by the oil companies, and the perception that things will get better with another Obama term.
I believe others, perhaps Gov Christy, could have made this more of a horse race, and had a good shot at winning. Romney might still win, but it's looking less likely.
I think Christy would have been a much better choice. I see him as a leader who could make tough choices.
Gotta love this guy. He's now got my vote &feature=player_detailpage
because you don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about those comments, that makes you a liberal? people and their tags
Sorry slore, but what Romney said is the truth. There is a very large percentage of people in this country who have zero accountability. They will suck off the system as long as they can and they will continue to vote for those who promise to keep their checks coming. Slore you work as do I and probably almost everyone on this forum. When we see more and more of our hard earned dollars going to keep some clown from having to work, it gets more than a little bit discouraging. Eventually those that work just say the hell with it and quit and suck off the system like everyone else.
These videos coming out are just Romney being Romney. It seems, as it turns out, that he's a rather shallow man, if I can speak frankly. Leading the country requires a lot of sophistication of thought, and he's not showing any. His foreign policy speech, secretly recorded at a fund raiser, in which he says there's nothing he can do about the middle east is especially telling. This is him speaking candidly, not blustering about Iran for the press. It just reveals that he has no plan, no policy, in this area. The Salt Lake City Tribune ran an editorial in which they attacked him for his saying he was going to reduce taxes, and this is in his home base, so to speak, Mormon country: even there, they see his statements as shallow, and promises hollow. I guess like the rest of us, they'd like to see a little more of substance. He reminds me of a student who didn't study, yet feels confident the test won't be that difficult.... Being president really is that difficult, Mr.Romney. I don't know if Christy ever seriously considered entering the race, but if he had, he would have offered a real choice, I think, and put the president to the test. It's too early to say Obama will win, but there is some point at which serious people are just going to stop taking Romney seriously. On the otherhand, those candid comments about the 47% will ring true with some voters: we'll know in a few days of polling just how much that matters to voters, and just how much that may offer him a boost.
Many of the comments today in Republican circles are to the effect that Romney is wrong to think he can win the election while writing off 47% of the electorate, as he needs every vote, and this group would include many who would be inclined to support him: William Kristol, for example, described the remarks as "arrogant and stupid", while his running mate, Paul Ryan, described the remarks Romney made in the video as "inarticulate", when asked by reporters, yesterday. When you combine this with the other apparently "out to lunch" comments Romney made on his trip abroad, such as telling the British they did not appear to have prepared adequately for the Olympics when he was visiting England at the time of the Olympics; or telling his Israeli hosts that they were successful because of cultural differences, which the Israelis took as an allusion to a stereotype they resent, it becomes more and more clear that he has just not done his homework, has kept his nose too closely planted to financial reports through the years, and comes to the race poorly prepared in many areas. I wouldn't have said any of this was obvious six months ago. ____________________
V, Romney is not doing himself any favors with his off the cuff comments. His handlers need to take a lesson from Obama's handlers and teach the guy when to keep his mouth shut. As far as I'm concerned he spoke the truth about many who do not pay taxes, however, there are times that one needs to not speak the truth. Most voters can't handle truth. Way back in 1964 there was a Senator from Arizona named Barry Goldwater who ran for President against Lyndon Johnson. Goldwater went into Tennessee and said how terrible the Tennessee Valley Authority was and then went to Florida and told the voters there that Social Security needed to be abolished. He lost very, very badly. Romney needs to learn a lesson from past candidates.
