Getting to Cancun from STL has gotten crappy. Short of using Apple/Frontier to go non-stop it's a pain. And they never fly the days we need to go. In June going and coming back we went through Atlanta. They have a new Customs Area/Building and it's the bomb. You get right through really quick. Just the opposite is true at Miami, slowest customs on earth, never fly back through Miami. It's great to see people from STL heading to TTR. We ran into 3 STL couples this year and have even gone out here in the STL area with some of them after coming back. Recently there was a STL/TTR party here on the IL side and we had a blast meeting new folks from the area that love TTR. Have fun on your trip! We're jealous, big time! Jeff n Jill
we are from STL. and the flight was threw Apple that is the worsed and we wont be going and doing that again. we would of loved to of gone to Jeff and Jills party they had in IL. but we had our kids that weekend and wasnt able to go. i am so glad everyone had fun and i am sure we missed alot. i am thinking we are going to go another route next year and i are looking at May, June, or July (we have friends that will be going in July) so we are not sure yet plus we still have plenty time to decide. but our flight was straight threw. STL airport was a breeze and we had no problems with customes, so i hope that little bit helped you. LOL
Last time we had direct flights. This time we opted for the cheaper vacation so we took cheaper flights, hence the connections. We connect in Atlanta on the way there and then on the way home we connect in Atlanta and then the dreaded second connection in Cincinatti. I have no idea why, but that is what we ended up with for $750 apiece 9 days 8 nights.
We usally fly out of stl but this year decided to fly out of atl. Last year flew out of stl thru dallas. When we arrived in Dallas we ran to the tram and to the international side of the airport and when we set down on the plane we had 90 seconds before the lights went out and the plane backed out. This year decided that a straight flight might be a less chance of missing a plane. Also atl was $500 cheaper for a straight thru flight. Arriving on the 12th of September also. See y'all there.
We have flown STL/CUN a bunch of times and have only recognized other guests from TTR a couple of times. It would be fun to meet up with a group and start the party in the airport before you head out. If you are flying the direct flights on Frontier (thru Apple or Funjet), be sure to buy the upgrade for around $20 pp each way. The upgrade get you to the front of the long line for check-in, gets you extended room seats on the plane, priority boarding, and coupons for free drinks. IMO, well worth the $80 for a rt for two.
We used to fly out of STL to CUN on all of our trips. We now fly out of KC since we seem to get better flights and better price. I guess we are lucky we live between STL and KC and can choose!
I will check into that. We always use Apple just for the direct flight! I'm not wasting my vacay in an airport!
