Hi I am new to the board. For the month of January and Feb, My wife and I are looking to rent a car. Just wondering if anyone out there has a car they would like to rent, or who has the best rental company. We use to live the winters in Puerto Vallarta, but it's getting to busy and loud. We will be staying in Isla Mujeres and tripping around from there, Thanks MT

I'd suggest sticking with one of the well known rental companies such as Hertz, National, Avis etc.

Be sure to double check the price and what it includes, prices initially quoted often do not include compulsory insurance.

Also be extra vigilant for damage before driving off, check there is a spare wheel etc. It seems to be a favourite scam of some employees to claim extra money for damage allegedly caused or missing things.

    Hello
For the past three years I have been renting cars and vans from Easyway rent-a-car. That is Easyway, not EZway. EZway is another company. ask for Jose Maria Chuk. His English is Ok. Always get full coverage on any car you rent in Mexico. You should not need a car on Isla. Getting it on and off the Island on the car ferry could be costly.
    God Bless
    Charles (Carlos)

Stay away from Hertz, biggest rip off !!!! Scammers n extra charges !!!

Easyway all the way, an amazing company with amazing people working for them.

I travel extensively through the Yucatan by car for weeks at a time, I have tried many and Easyway is my choice. I have one other easy in and out company Thrifty at the airport, they are also honest.

If you book with Hertz you need to know whatnyou legally need to drive (2 liscence plates ) they only give you one and then try to scam you on paying big $ as when you return there is no front plate, they do not note scratches etc, but upon return they bill u, with or without insurance.......I was lucky as I know the rules and made all notations on my slip and had the guy sign it. But if you read other boards, stay away from Hertz, they have no affiliation with US or Can Hertz, just the name so if tou have an issue and call Hertz tooo bad for you. Many many stories like this.

Enjoy yourtrip driving in QRoo is very easy and very safe.
