Does anyone have a "car guy" that they can recommend? Just bought new shocks(suspension) and the place(Speedys) we use are charging a ridiculous amount to instal them. Have had two other recommendations by locals, whom have stolen stuff and charged for installment of "new parts", yet left the old parts in...
Hi Rawkus, I use a guy called Yuri Gonzalez, he's the father of one of my colleagues and has sorted me out fine for now - In a case of a small world, one of the local taxi drivers we're friendly with reccommended him, before I knew he was related to my colleague. He has a workshop out on the Bonampak, by Jardines de Bonampak, more or less. 9981190073
I would also recommend Yuri, or I have a German mate called Frank who is a real trained mechanic in Germany. 25 years experience with BMW's Audis, VW's, Mercedes Benz. He only does it the right way, if you tell him to cut corners he refuses to work on your car! Costs a bit more but you know it's right first time.
We have good experience with this german guy and can recommend him: http://www.facebook.com/frank.knepperges Best regards, Deli Aleman CancĂșn | Facebook
Car Guy Don Kelly has a very professional shop in the industrial park behind the Burger King / Pemex near the airport. You enter the park, go all the way to the back, turn right and then take the next left. His shop is immediately on the left. Good guy, good work and good prices. I would not use anyone else.
Don Kelly is my guy too. Nextel # is 275 4054. The park is called Central de Abastos and where you turn (right) off the highway is at the Comfort Inn. I believe if you get to the Burger King/Pemex you will have passed the entrance to the park. You will first pass the Courtyard by Marriott and then the traffic will slow due to a huge TOPE, pretty much at the Comfort Inn. There is a bus stop as you exit the security gate. $6 back to town with stops at Plz las Amer and the final stop is at Asis at the Tulum/Chichen Itza intersection. They run every 20 minutes or so and are pretty quick as there aren't a lot of stops.
