    Hey all

I have only been to Cancun during spring break in March, being bugged by my friend to go early August

I had a blast the two times I went during spring break

Just wondering how it is in august...I am not expecting spring break, but it will be 3 single guys looking to have a good time

How is the night life scene during this time
Weather...I heard it is hurricane season and that has me cocerned

We would be staying at the Grand Oasis all exclusive.....any info on reviews for this would be great.....I never stayed at Oasis, but during the day would go to the beach during spring break and it was fun times

Any info at all would be well appreciated

    Thanks

Have you stayed at the Oasis before?

Expect high 80s to low 90s and a breeze. Much smaller crowd than March, but everything else is pretty much the same.

We have a group of 6 going to the Oasis on August 16th.

Much smaller crowd, but still a great hotel to party at. Hit & miss on the ladies, you never know. Make sure you hit the front desk for a day pass at one of the sister resorts, you can eat & drink for free while you are there. We usually plan a half day (carry a backpack with a change of clothes), can't miss for free.
    Our group arrives August 16th.

The hurricanes are more likely in September-December, as is more rain. It's pretty much the same cycle there as it is here in Florida. As far as the night life goes, I'm not sure. I imagine that since there will be fewer people around, the places will try harder to make a buck, err... peso.

    Thanks for the info bros
Razor what do u mean with packing for a half a day?
I know Oasis is big...Im staying at Grand Oasis....so my guess is it is better to mingle around outside the Grand? It's all exclusive so I am guessing I have access to food/drinks in all of the Oasis . My memory of the Oasis is just the beach during spring break witch was always a kick ass time....the couple times I went I stay at what is called Me Cancun....but would always party like 2-7pm everyday at Oasis beach

Another question is, what is up with the water at Oasis.....will it be ok for me to get mix drinks with ice cubes? Or is the water crap at the hotel

    Thanks

I can't comment about the Oasis specifically, but most hotels on the strip in Cancun have safe drinking water. They normally have their own water purification system. If the ice has holes in it, then it should be safe. It's some sort of international standard that if the ice has a hole then it's been used with purified water.

Hotels have purification systems in place, much of the ice used is produced in bulk at a factory setting....it comes bagged to the hotels for use in the bars....if there are ice machines in your hotel, it has a purification system in place, as they don't want all of us to get sick.....also, don't drink too many drinks with coconut in them....great laxative....so....you think you are sick, but you just have the cleansing you would usually get prior to a colonoscopy....have a great trip!!!

The water in the Hotel Zone is safe, I've taken a drink right out of the bathroom faucet and no problems. Never had a problem with the ice. One tip I got off this forum was to take a pepto-bismol chewable tablet first thing everyday as a safegard to coat your stomach, it seems to work. I've never gotten sick since doing that.
By packing a back-pack, I'm talking about your day trip to visit the sister resort (Free). Let the front desk know you want to spend time at the Oasis Palm the day before you go, and you will get a day pass to use the pools, restaurants, bars, and beach at the place a few miles down the street (take swim trunks, etc.).
You can use all the facilities at the Oasis if you booked at the Grand Oasis.
