Beats me, but Tonya told me she is going to make me read it and I am supposed to start acting more like one of the characters!?!?
It all about sex, sex, sex, every chapter sex. Lol on chapter 20 right now. hahahaha A little S & M to make our mornings.
That is exactly what my wife said to me. I tried to read the first one, got to page 2 and got bored.. Must be a chick thing because the wife certainly was not bored reading them. This video clip says it all: Hulu - Saturday Night Live: Amazon Mother's Day Ad
I got screwed to death while she was reading these books so I wasn't going to complain about her being obsessed with reading them
Stacia & her friend T-bone (Taylor) aare reading it and they don't think it's really "all that," if you are already a reader of erotica-style literature. Of course, if you're not, then reading about a little dom-sub stuff, mixed in with some light S&M might really light your fire a bit. Me, I've no damn idea. I'm waiting for Stacia to start touching herself in bed while she's reading it, or to jump me after a chapter, or say, "Come over here, this book is working me up." But, nope. Not yet. Dammit.
I read the first one on behest of my wife.... and here's what I got out of it (taking into account the huge popularity of the books). 1. Girls, no matter their age, still have this sophomoric attraction to dudes with deep issues. 2. Girls, no matter their age, are just as horny as guys - if less overt about it. 3. Girls like being subdued and taken by a guy... period. 4. Christian Grey is the perfect culmination of a man's life experience wrapped into a mid 20's body. Thus, unless we figure out some secret fountain of youth... sorry dudes, we're screwed. 5. Every girl has a fantasy (or at least they do now) of being tied up and/or spanked. 6. Fetish shops all over the globe have doubled their sales. The books are not terribly written, and they're slightly interesting. Was good for a few "tips" though. :aktion047:
We are both reading it, and I, Todd keep reading to see if it finally lives up to the hype, but alas it doesn't. Written very poorly with occasional use of pretentious words which just don't fit with the rest of the writting. With names like Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, what would you expect? I guess it is a good thing that people who havent read a book in 20 years are reading again. Maybe they will investigate some better literature after finishing this series... A buddy of mine just bought his wife books 2 and 3 after he got laid 3 times in one week. Since he had gone ages without any, he figures it can't be that bad a book, who am I to question that logic?
