I'll admit to be totally hard-hearted on this and I know that most expats here really support the animal rescue/etc. but dayum, I just can't get all that bothered about cruelty to animals (well, I can get bothered but the level of importance just isn't there for me) when there is so much human cruelty going on. IMO, support the humans and once they're taken care of, humane treatment of animals will follow. (long winded way of agreeing with you)
and i doubt you'd see them but i'll bet they're there. Noone knew we had a dog - he was in a luggage-looking bag and stayed under the seat in front of us.
To each his own, I guess? I see TONS more being done towards humans(world wide) compared to animals. I like to put my time and effort on those whom are worse off: The animals. They, like mentioned, have zero backing. At least one can get prosecuted, fined etc. if you do something towards a human(regardless of age), yet its fine to slash a dogs head and limbs of with machetes. Another point: Why would we have to chose between humans and animals? There are a lot of work being done for both - one should not have to cancel out the other. I prefer animals to humans: More honesty, less lying and pretending. An angry dog will tell me straight away, rather than stab you in the back The worst part is when people even find excuses to bad treatment of our fellow beings. NOT saying that anyone here has done it, rather generally speaking. Im thrilled that there are people that dedicate their entire lives, income etc. towards helping animals - without them, the world would be an uglier place than it already is, when it comes to values. The way we treat animals and our environment hits back at us in the end: Food contamination, pollution etc.
