Just touching base!! Miss all you guys and still bummed we won't make it to Temptations this year :( But on the bright side we've discovered Caliente Tampa which is right down the road from us.....definitely a good reason to keep in shape!

Have dropped the body fat by over 1% in the last month, but the trainer says my goal is 19%, so still plenty of work to do! Hope all of you are doing well!!!!

Beachbody.com and Shakeology are doing wonders for me! I'm keeping on track, down 8 pounds at last check in this weekend, inches are still coming off, and I'm half way for my goal! If I can do it, anyone can do. I'm still determined to look better for this Labor Day, and I'm getting there! So excited!

    Running

A few weeks ago, I posted that I had started running. In truth, what I did was run for one minute then walk for two minutes. I did this routine for 6 km. It was my first attempt at running to keep healthy in 10 years. I enjoy walking part and but running sucks. Anyway, I have kept at it every other day doing a little more of the running thing and less of the walking. Yesterday I completed my first 5 km straight run.

As I am running, the only thought that goes through my head is "why is God's name do people do this for fun????" If you are a runner and do marathons for the hell of it, please tell me what I am missing. I think I would rather "Run with the Bulls" then at least I would understand why I'm running.

well I felt the same way about any kind of intentional exercise but it has grown on me, well not sure that I actually like it but I sure do feel guilty if I dont do it .. has exercising become like christmas.. is it all about spending money? gym memberships, personal trainers, tread mills, weights, classes, now, I know you can exercise without all of these things but my parents didnt exercise.. my dad is 83.. not over weight and healthy as a horse.. my mom is 73 and a bit over weight but no one believes she is 73.. so why is it that we have to exercise to be healthy..is it just a fad to be in style...haha!

I am proud of you and extremely jealous as I miss being able to run my 5km runs. I never really liked the run itself but the high I got from doing it was what made it all worth while. I have to say I ran very much in pain though and against pain all the time. I now cannot run cause of severe athritis in my knee. When I ran I suffered shin splints almost everytime. So it wasn't the run it was the high and the effect it had on my body. I never ran competions, I ran for me.

Thank you and I suppose if I couldn't run, I would not be happy either. Although it still baffles me how many ardent runners there are out there where I am finding no pleasure in it. I pshych myself up for it beforehand, and I really enjoy the cool down and stretches afterwards, but the actual run is boring and painful. I am also fighting with a bad knee that makes me question whether this is such a good ldea. Anyway, I desire the results that I will hopefully get from following a solid exercise plan and since I have been so bad for so many years, I deserve a little bit of pain to get back into shape.

Anyway, thanks for the encouragement, my second attempt at the 5 km is tonight after work (although it may be the treadmill which is easier). Glad to hear that you are getting back into the routine as well and frankly biking makes more sense to me.
