Hey Frank I didn't miss it.....lol That was a motivation factor for me. But I am sure that it was easily overlooked when she posted pics.....lol. No one was paying attention to the writing....lol. I know the next few days become obsessive, especially once it out us control freaks' hands, but you have done everything possible to win an unfair contest fairly. We all know the final points are meaningless, so you have as good a chance as Valentina.

 

Back in town

Hi folks! I'm back from a long day throwing a birthday party for my 8-year-old son, and contending with long weekend traffic on the way back home.

I feel like I posted a pretty brief THANK YOU when I was rushing out the door before voting closed, and I do want to do proper justice to expressing my heartfelt thanks to all of you who supported me. I believe most of you who voted did so more than once, and some of you really outdid yourselves by passing on the word to friends and family who haven't a clue who this girl Karen is, and why she is running around in her gonchies on the Internet . It was all the support and positive energy I received from CCC people, my friends and my family that made this whole looong race worthwhile, no matter the result.

I hadn't received much feedback from my family at all during the contest, but when I talked to them today, they had all spread the word far and wide, and my niece even got an ex-boyfriend's roller hockey team to vote. So I feel as if 95% of my votes HAVE to stand up, because I KNOW WHERE THOSE VOTES CAME FROM. While a few people I know were still voting last night and this morning, I remain a little mystified at adding 70 votes from 10:30 pm to 10:00 am when most of my team thought the contest had already ended 24 hours before (due to my bad math), but I feel VERY confident about my previous votes, which were added gradually and painstakingly with great effort, one after the other, day after day, by people who, at my request, were telling me when they were voting and how many votes they were posting.

I started this contest feeling like it was a personal challenge to win it, and I became more and more committed to winning for the sake of winning as the contest wore on. Then last night when it was all slipping away I had a bit of an epiphany and realized that the REAL personal challenge was to put 110% effort into striving for the goal, and not to fixate on the goal as being the sole reward in the process. This was an important lesson for me to re-learn, and it's a lesson I will definitely teach my son.

So I am at complete peace with the process. While I will watch for the final results with interest (as opposed to obsession), I will accept them with grace no matter what they are. Frankly, after 12 days of being repeatedly suprised, both pleasantly and unpleasantly, I can't think of any result that would shock me!

 

This is good for contestants who play by the rules, and not so good for those who don't. So, yes, it is good news for me. Haven't a clue whether it is good news for Valentina or not. Only she can answer that.

I agree that a win is well within the realm of possibility for me, given that almost 700 votes were posted by each of us and we are only 32 votes apart. The more votes posted, the more that seem to be deducted in the end. I feel my odds are 50/50 at the moment.
