It seems like October 2011 was a particularly bad October, and there was rain also into the first 2 weeks of November. I was on the boards regularly (when am I NOT? ), and I remember people posting during more than one week in Oct-Nov about their ground floor rooms flooding. When you travel in storm season, this can happen, but as everyone is saying here, for it to rain all day like it did for a few days last October is not typical and you'd have to have pretty lousy luck to hit those days. I think it would be fun to do TTR for Hallowe'en. Just might try that one year (especially since Paul and Lisa - Fredmgill) are there then)!
We were there o er Halloween and into the first part of Nov in 2011. We had to postpone for 2 days due to "hurricane" Rina and when we got there it rained a couple of days (not all day). However the people we met and the fun we had more than made up for the minor weather issues. Halloween was a blast and we would be going back this year except we wanted to try Desire Cabo. We will be at TTR July 14-19 though!
We land at 4:30pm on Oct. 31st....rates are just too good not to go again. $500 each for direct flight and $52 a night! Why go to Vegas!!
Why yes you can.. Thank god. Lol. I think the insurance is only good if you are a UK resident. Which is why I get travel insurance when I purchase my air..
Thank you Steve, I went ahead and booked Alpharooms through your website. I really hope Original keeps their word, if not no biggie we'll still have fun and save $700. more for tips for the folks at tar. Are you going to do a cruise in August?
I just checked it out too and $359 bux for 2 people for a week, the beginning of October. Wondering, this cant be right.
Just in case you missed it when I posted it on another thread, here is what we experienced 2 of our 6 days at TTR in Oct. 2011 (day three the wind died down, but it was still cloudy and the beach was a MESS until the last day we were there - and no sun at all the entire time we were there, Oct. 15-20, it only peaked out a bit the last morning before we left). [ame="&"]Cancun tropical storm Oct. 2011 - YouTube You can't go outside, you can't go in the pool, all the restaurants are closed, the only food is salad and appetizers in the nice shoes bar, the only bar open is Nice Shoes, and Nice Shoes was packed with sweaty wet bodies (bartenders did the best they could to make drinks fast, but it took forever to get one). The floors are horribly slippery with all the wind bringing in the water to the halls. Our room flooded and we had to move, and sleeping was difficult because the wind was so bad the sliding door rattled horribly. Even with a cheap room, it still costs us $1500 for us to fly to Cancun so we wouldn't risk a storm like that again, and the peak of the season when they are most likely to happen in Cancun is week 2/3 of Oct. After being there two more times in great weather, with all the fun stuff going on, what we missed out on the first time was a tragic loss for us!! Everyone on this site really helped us make the decision to give it another try, and I am so glad we did in January!!
