Oh Angie, I know you live near Philly, but we need to get you to find a better team to root for. I have to root for the Devils in this series. For a lot of us, the Flyers are like the Oakland Raiders. They're just one of the more disliked teams in the NHL.
Well I am still holding out hope for this years cup (albeit slipping away quickly)...you, not so much :icon_wink: The answer to your question was 1 year after they beat the Bruins for the start of their "BACK2BACK". Was a nice run playing for the cup 3 years in a row.
Now you've got me thinking about what teams have never won the Stanley Cup. My own Buffalo Sabres and their fellow 1970 expansion team, the Vancouver Canucks are certainly in there. Let's see, who else? The Kings are in that mix and the Blues along with the Predators, but who else?
Stanley Cup Drought One of these teams will be playing for the cup this season. As a Philadelphia fan, we know what its like to wait season after season for a championship. So if my Flyers are not there (and if they continue their current type of play they won't be) I will be pulling for the west or the Capitals.
NBC Sports and CBC must be close to panic. A Los Angeles/Phoenix Western Final will be a ratings disaster in most of the US and Canada. We'll see if it plays out, but it looks like a real possibility.
This has got to be the most regionalized semis that I can remember. LA and Phoenix playing for the Cactus Cup and NJ playing either the Caps or Rangers. Well at least they will all save on travel costs.
So we've got LA/Phoenix for the Cactus Cup and NY/NJ for a series that the two teams are 14 miles apart. NBC has to be having a fit for ratings. Looks like it will be two fun series to watch though.
