When traveling to Cancun, what is the single best item someone from another country can purchase there, that they cannot get something of equal value in their home country? We've heard vanilla, tequila, etc. but what do you think we should buy and take back home with us that we absolutely cannot get something of that quality in the U.S.? Thanks.
Hmm, that's a difficult one. But interesting. I'll defer to those from the US since I have little idea of what things are available in the US and their price. TJ, Tori?
Can't speak for the Cancun area but we have been to Mexico approx 15 times. Medications (not sure if its legal to bring back/we have never bought any) and Real Vanilla. Be sure it's not imitation. Some will try and sell it. But from what we have seen in our travels around the country real vanilla def is way cheaper than in the states.
Silver? Isn't most (or alot) of the world's silver mined in Mexico? It's been close to 17 years but when I stayed in Cuernavaca for a month, I remember being told that you could get good deals on it in Mexico. I have no idea now though, just throwing it out there.
There is one thing that you can get plenty of, it is priceless yet it is inexpensive. You can get it at TTR without any anxiety or trepidations as you would back home. Yes it is MEMORIES. Memories of the wildest and uninhibited debauchery you can create. Just our thought
Last time I bought some vanilla in the airport at the Duty Free for my mother and tried to carry it on and they confiscated it. Shortly after that, an airport employee came onto the aircraft with it to give it to me but somebody else claimed it. So either they too bought some, or somebody made off with my mom's vanilla. Lol. Wasn't a big deal though... my mom still has three bottles of vanilla that I have bought in Cancun. Thinking she needs to bake more.
For real vanilla, if you are able to find Watkins products or supllier in your area, it's real and not that expensive. Really good tequllia (aka the expensive stuff) is much cheaper in Cancun than in the states. And there are products, like blankets, that when you get the "real" stuff is much better and cheaper than you can get in the states. I say "real" because, for example, you can buy "Persian" rugs for 1/3 the cost, that are made right here in the US, than those made in the middle east. They may look the same, but they aren't, so yeah, they should be 1/3 the cost. Jmaie
Jamie, we prefer the blanco tequila, what is the best clear Tequila there is? Or anyone can answer what they think is the best blanco tequila.
Have you tried Esperanto? We always bring home 6 bottles, it really is the one you can't find in the US. The bottle is as beautiful as the tequila is smoothm no trainning wheels needed for this one!
