    I'm from Quebec!

I bought Coppola Keratin through ebay... because most of the keratin products are sold only for beauty salons use.

I know some drugstore here that sells products with keratin. The treatment isn't as strong as the hairdresser's stuff but maybe you should try:
Organix ® Beauty. Pure & Simple

They should have it at Wal Mart as well...

I agree with the others - screw trying to tame it, just go with it! On vaca, I use a product from L'anza called "Beach Spray" Love it! I also have a clip on long curly ponytail dyed to match my hair. On REALLY bad nights, I pull my hair back and clip it on. Looks great and stays put!

Ok so after reading this post I called my hairdresser & asked her about the keratin treatment. She said their salon wont do them because they contain formaldehyde (sp?). I get alot of deals on Groupon.com & lo & behold a groupon was listed today for a keratin treatment in a salon in a city that is about an hr from us. They said the normal price for one is 350.00!!!!:icon_eek: But with the groupon it would be 175.00. They also said it is 100% formaldehyde free. When I told my hubby what the price was & that several women on here said how great it was for the humidity he looked at me like I was crazy!! :icon_eek: Lol. I have a horrible time with frizziness in the summer so trying to decide if it would be worth it. I also straighten my hair everytime I wash it & it said if you get the treatment you dont even have to do that anymore which would cut down on alot of prep time getting readyIt also sid it lasts for about 6 months. I guess my question is for those that have gotten it done do you really feel its worth the money & two is this a normal price for a treatment. Thanks! Jess

    Hi Jess,

My SIL has really curly hair. She did a keratin smoothing treatment a couple of years ago and it worked great...AT FIRST. After 4-6 months, she realized her hair was coming out in clumps and she had bald spots. She had average thickness hair and by the time it was said and done - she lost a lot of hair!:sauer005: She was so upset and cautioned me NOT to do it. Now...I have to add that she was also going through a difficult time period in her life and it is likely that it contributed to the problem - but I can't imagine that the 'difficult period in her life' is 100% to blame. She researched the treatment and after hours found out that it is a common problem that people were having. There are no regulations on these types of beauty treatments.

With that said...I would say RESEARCH this heavily before you do it and ask a lot of people. Let me know what happens. I have been wanting to do something like this for a long time too because I have thick hair and it would take me 1/2 the time to get ready in the morning!

I personally HATED when Susie got the Keratin treatment. She paid for a high end treatment that was supposed to last for weeks...

Her hair LOOKED flat and oily after! She has had the same hairdresser for years. Her hair dresser knows how much I love her awesome hair. I laid into her after that crap. My opinion is don't waste your money if you already have great hair. If you are VERY naturally frizzy...maybe a good idea

Well sounds like I'll probably skip it then especially for that kind of money! My hair isnt super frizzy, just in the humidity I cant get it to stay straight like I like it. Oh well I'll probably be too drunk to care anyways. Lol. Thanks guys for the input. Guess I'll just use that 175 towards some more dental floss thongs. Maybe if Im wearing those nobody will look at my hair anyways. Lol :wink3: Jess

I got keratin done friday and it looks great!

I don't know about the humidity because qe haven't had much by these days but we'll see when i get to cancun.

The new keratin treatments are not supposed to have formaldehyde anymore but it is true that the old version of the treatment contained a bit.

350-500$ in a salon... but i did it myself. You can check tutorials on youtube, if you can straigthen your hair and iron it, you can perform the treatment on yourself and it won't cost much!

ABSOLUTELY get the keratin!! My hair is thick and course, humidity makes it look awful..so, I spent more for the treatment that lasts a few months, and my hair actually looked good and had bounce! When I go again(cuz we will!)I will do the same thing! I've never tried keratin before this..and the month treatment sounds a lot better on the pocket-book!

Yes it's Definately worth the $ and $175 is a great price, you can also get the 1 month treatment - not as strong and long lasting but only $40 approx
