I guess if the weather was really bad for more than 50% of your stay then that would be a let down. Re hype, I really don't think it's a let down, if anything it amplifies your trip! Only let down we had for our first trip was that the people we booked the holiday with just didn't really seem comfortable with the atmosphere, meeting people from CC etc. None of us had stayed at TTR before, but I did my homework and joined the forum so knew what I was getting into, and knew some folks before we got there. I also made sure my husband understood the types of fun situations we might find ourselves in, so that he didn't feel it had been suddenly pushed on him. We found ourselves at the quiet pool more often than we'd of liked to be, for their sake. Next trip we've booked just on our own so we won't feel guilty enjoying the fun, leaving anyone behind and what not. I think falling victim to the first day curse would possibly ruin the start of your holiday. I fell victim to 2nd day curse. Was ok first night there, and relatively sober when I went to bed. 2nd day was our first full day (Mardi Gras night) and I went way overboard! Powered through the hangover the next day by drinking again, but I crashed just after dinner and missed lingerie night!
Our February trip Stacia & I were so worn out from real world work life that we didn't make it down for lingerie Night! Can you believe that? But, we were drinking some, but not a LOT, that afternoo, had dinner and went up for the pre-party nap and just could not get the oomph to get out of the damn bed. Looking back, that decision sucked, but at the time, it seemed very necessary to get the rest. Definitely NOT going to happen this next time though.
This whole forum gives me great hope. So many multiple-repeat visitors - the resort has to be doing something right!
There is so much place to go in the world that i never imagine going two time at the same place....but i return to TTR again next week for the second time......
It's so true. We're going back in November for our second trip. The atmosphere that the resort encourages means that you meet the most amazing like-minded people on your trip...and that's what makes it the best place. We met a lot of fantastic people to hang out with on our trip, and we hope to meet each and every one of them again on our future trips (especially freakygeek & Redmistclone, Griffrhys, Pat&LaDonna and Lynnshaun)! Oh and of course Steve and Janet for Boobs Cruise - two of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
Each trip we've been to TTR things have been more and more fun, save only the short bad weather February weekend, which was still passing grade but not as fun as those trips in 2010 and 2011.
All i can say is this year (7th trip) is definetely in my top 2 favorites there. So definetely no let down at all.
