Stacia wanted to select our seats on the flight into Cancun from Houston, and didn't find our confirmation number for the flights in the package of info we got from the agent. So, John calls said agent and asks where it is. Agent looks us up and makes a check of her screen tthen makes a sound I can only identify for you as a telephonic version of a texted "WTF?" She told me that, somehow, our entire trip (April 22-28 to TTR) had been cancelled for some reason -- not us, not her, not anyone at agent. Our distributor GOGo travel had quashed our trip. Note: GoGo kep thte money, just killed our reservations forr the jacuzzi room, the transport to/from, and our flights. It took two stressfu days for our agent, but it's all better now, plus a business-class flight back when we're tiredand suffering from the hang-arounds. Anyone else have a TTR disaster-averted story? See everyone who's gonna be there Sunday after next!
Yes, three years ago for my 40th bday we planned our first trip to TTR. A day and a half prior to leaving my stepmother who was watching our 3 kids for the week called and cancelled! Talk about an OMG, shit, wtf kinda moment! Oh, and did I mention we had also bought her a round trip ticket to get here and it was non refundable! Well, anyway as you say tragedy averted. Luckily we've always had 3 or 4 really great college age sitters since we have no family near by. We were able to get them to tag team the week to cover ours kids school schedules, etc with two of them staying at our house in shifts. Cost us about an extra 1000.00 in babysitting fees though. Good thing TTR was totally worth it!
Yea, My dad who is 83, has gone in to the hospital just before the last 3 trips we have taken to Cancun, up until almost the last min. I wasnt sure if we would get to go, then he would get a lot better and come home a day or two before we left and we would get to go. It's a runnig joke with us now that when ever we plan to go to Cancun he had better stay well!
Never had a problem with plans to TTR but GOGO travel - damn straight. Took a trip to Jamaica and was walked to another hotel thanks to them. Not talking for the night - the whole week at a golf resort. But we did have airline troubles twice. Once we showed up 2 minutes after cutoff to check in so they bumped us to later flight and once our plane never showed up.
UH,, does dear ol' dad know where you are going? My mom who will be 82 this yr panic's every time we go to Mexico. If we told her Temptations, I'm sure it would be ten-fold.
My dad knows where we go and would most likey love the place, if he could go, my Mom knows where we go too but if she went she whould most likely have a heart attack . My parents think every time we go we are heading into the wild west, drugs, guns, murder!!! I cant make them understand how far Cancun is from the border and that it is as safe as any US city
On the Wild West, drugs, guns, murder comment, I hear that. When we tell people about going to Cancun, they almost always look at us funny, which, in turn, makes me look at them funny. Gee, it's like people take everythig they see on the News as if it were the Lord's own truth or something. I tried to explain the drug war thing in Mexico once to a guy who i thought was smart. The next day he sent me a yahoo.com news link about a shooting in Cabo near to a shopping mall. So, I responded back with a map of Mexico and asked him to look for where Cabo was and where Cancun is, and to look at the mileage scale indicating distance. oh, and mountains.
No kidding, I keep telling people who ask me if I'm nervous about traveling to Mexico that Cancun is like Orlando is to Disneyworld. It's not a border town!
From now on I am telling people that my dealer said it's the safest place in Mexico and Central America to conduct the business of being a drug mule lol
